Re: Damage Drop Off

So if your good with your character or just a smart player do you really need damage drop off? Sounds like people are just mad because hey are not playing a character well!  Or are getting slammed by the enemy constantly. If I’m wrong please explain.

@OB1-The-Only-One the idea of damage dropoff is to force some characters to close to range and most shooters have this; characters that don't have damage dropoff in MP shooters tend to be rare and designed for being able to do full damage at any range as one of their distinct advantages. Right now in BfN, most PvP fights occur at the longest ranges as there is no reason to close the distance unless you're having issues hitting distant targets as you can do full damage as anyone at any range, with a couple special exceptions (NIghtcap and Super Brainz).

@OB1-The-Only-One@OB1-The-Only-OneI don't really agree with the problems in the OP, but drop-off is needed because of characters like Soldier and Electric Slide, who can essentially snipe, while also being very agile. This isn't really a problem, but it is with these chars because of their high damage output. "just position yourself better" or "just sprint or use movement abilities" isn't really something you can say for them.

@OB1-The-Only-One Generally I don't mind lack of damage drop off, but it still can cause some problems. You can take on groups solo in GW 2 since their damage patterns are usually out of sync and you can spread the incoming shots over time. BfN groups can and will easily focus fire you. Although it is also related to different movement.

@OB1-The-Only-One Actually, you're somewhat on point there. You could always just get closer to hit an opponent easier. That said, for those who can play (which is everyone for a casual game), it's very easy to play at unintended longer ranges. For example, Imp is supposed to play at short range but because lack of drop off, he can do well at medium range unintentionally. This makes him viable in situations where he shouldn't.

@benn1nat0r If you need a functioning Sap Trap you could always ask me (or just turn into an Oak yourself). It's not the best but it does more damage!

@Fork_x_Spoon Pardon my language, don't need to be crass, with your Sap Trap we can go kick some Grass.

(I watched the trailer to get the lyrics right and got really sad at the "Now we're running through the trees and crushing enemies and no one ever leaves" part. The announcement has even ruined the trailer I love so much for me. Seriously, I housed to listen to it multiple times a day.)
