Hi everyone, my tips for Foot Soldier's character challenges are as follows. As for the upgrade names and descriptions that I will be suggesting, here is the link I used to assist me: https://plantsvszombies.fandom.com/wiki/Foot_Soldier_(PvZ:_BfN). Foot Soldier's challenges are actually relatively easy and not particularly time consuming, but if you are more experienced with Foot Soldier, you're going to have an even easier time completing them. I wish all of you good luck completing his challenges, and his challenges are as follows:
Earn 5,000 XP as Foot Soldier.
- Use the "Levelling Up" upgrade if you wish to get this challenge done faster - you gain 10% extra XP from any action that would grant you more than 5 XP, and this works even if your Foot Soldier is Grandmaster Level 5, meaning this upgrade still has use, should you use it.
- As he is an Attack character, vanquishes are your best bet for gaining XP, but actions such as assists, reviving and so on are also useful to aim for. Going out of your way to attempt a revive or assist may be useful.
- 2-3 full successful matches of Ops or Skirmishes will give you the challenge.
- PvP is also a useful option as you get much more XP for vanquishing players than Al.
- Do not worry too much about this challenge's completion - you will most likely get it before you have finished the rest of your challenges. If you have not, you will not be far off.
Vanquish 50 Enemies Affected by Super Stink Cloud. #
This challenge requires you to vanquish a total of 50 enemies that have been damaged by your Stink Cloud, but the Stink Cloud itself is not allowed to vanquish them or you will not get points towards the challenge. The Super Stink Cloud must also still be active for you to get vanquishes for this challenge. Because of this, ZPG is a good weapon to use as it's quite easy to get vanquishes while your Stink Cloud weakens and damages enemies, but your Primary weapon works fine as well. Focus on enemies with lower health for the challenge, as you will have an easier time getting the vanquishes, but remember you need to be hasty as the Super Stink Cloud is not allowed to get the vanquish, also you need the direct vanquish. Groups of enemies are also useful for this challenge as you can deal damage to multiple with your Stink Cloud.
PvE TIPS
- Ops, Skirmishes and Free-roam Fights: Throw your Super Stink Cloud into a group of enemies, then either ZPG into it or start firing with your Z-1 Assault Blaster primary into it. If enemies cluster your Graveyard in Ops, use that opportunity to Stink Cloud the lot, then go trigger happy.
- Bosses and Boss Fights: Weaken the boss a lot, then when it reaches low health, Stink Cloud it and finish it off.
- Battle Chests and Bounty Hunts: If multiple enemies cluster, throw a Stink Cloud onto them and focus on vanquishing the enemies with the lowest health first, then try to take out the ones with more health.
- Giddy Park (Private with Al): Throw a Stink Cloud on a Wildflower, then use your Primary weapon to vanquish it.
PvP TIPS
- Throw your Super Stink Cloud at a low health enemy, like Nightcap, then attempt to vanquish it.
- Throw it at a group of enemies that are clustering, then perhaps attempt to ZPG.
- Throw it at weakened enemies, then attempt to vanquish them.
- Throw the Stink Cloud so it blocks off objectives so that enemies are forced to go through it, then try to vanquish them.
- Throw it in tight spaces so the plants find it hard to avoid.
USEFUL UPGRADES
- Sticky (3 upgrade points). It sticks to enemies and surfaces, if you stick it to an enemy, you can track them and they will be unable to see well, giving you an easy vanquish with one of your other weapons.
- Rapid Fire (3 upgrade points). Your primary weapon's rate of fire is increased, giving you a higher DPS to vanquish enemies affected by Stink Cloud with some more ease.
Deal 3,500 Damage with ZPG. #
With this challenge, you need to deal a total of 3,500 damage or more only using your ZPG ability. You do not need any sorts of vanquishes. However, remember that the ZPG deals significant direct damage and deals generous splash damage, so obtaining this challenge is not going to take sheer amounts of time. Groups of enemies are useful for this challenge as you can deal extra splash damage to enemies and are less likely to miss.
PvE TIPS
- Ops, Skirmishes and Free-roam Fights: Use it when enemies cluster. Aim it directly at an enemy, get close if you need. If you keep dealing full damage with the ZPG this quest is not going to take you long. If enemies cluster around your Ops graveyard, aim it directly at an enemy, fire, it should hit them directly and splash damage a lot of other enemies.
- Bosses and Boss Fights: The bosses may knock you away if you get too close with your ZPG. Keep a bit of a distance, then aim directly at the boss, and go for gold. You'll get a lot of damage in if you do not miss. Dreadwood and Blight Cap may be useful for this, if you keep waiting to use your ZPG and avoid using your Primary weapon you should complete this challenge before the boss fight is even completed, from start to finish.
- Battle Chests and Bounty Hunts: Use your ZPG on enemies that are easier to hit or that have lots of health so you can do it multiple times.
- Giddy Park (Private with Al): Find a Wildflower and ZPG them directly. Rinse and repeat.
PvP TIPS
- Enemies that are bigger in size and/or that have more health are enemies you should focus for this challenge.
- Try to throw a ZPG in the middle of enemy clusters.
- If an enemy is stunned, immobile, or similar, fire your ZPG at them. Pea Gatling for example.
- Before using your ZPG on a plant, use a Stink Cloud first on them to reduce their vision, then fire at them. You could also Rocket Jump and ZPG from the air.
- If an enemy is really close to you, attempt to ZPG them. If you vanquish them, it should save your life. And you should, at a minimum, inflict damage to the enemy.
USEFUL UPGRADES
- Shockwave (2 upgrade points), your ZPG knocks enemies back, keeping them away from you and negating things like revives and chomper's bites. That or you will vanquish them. Or miss.
- Propellant (3 upgrade points), your ZPG has a faster projectile flight speed, meaning enemies have less time to react to it and attempt to dodge it.
Deal Damage with ZPG 25 Times During a Rocket Jump. #
This is a bit of a skilled challenge - you need to activate your Rocket Jump, then, while you are in the air, activate your ZPG and use it to deal damage to enemies 25 times or more. This does not require to deal a specific amount of damage, or get vanquishes. You simply need to deal some damage with it. Again, grouped enemies are useful for this challenge as you will have an easier time landing shots on enemies, and hitting multiple.
PvE TIPS
- Ops, Skirmishes and Free-roam Fights: When enemies group up, Rocket Jump and fire your ZPG into the middle of them.
- Bosses and Boss Fights: When your boss reaches low health, Rocket Jump and ZPG them if you are confident that it will finish them off.
- Battle Chests and Bounty Hunts: Weaken the enemy or enemies, Rocket Jump, then fire a ZPG at that enemy to finish them.
- Giddy Park (Private with Al): Find a Wildflower, Rocket Jump, and ZPG it. Even the splash damage should vanquish it.
PvP TIPS
- Throw a Stink Cloud on enemies first to reduce their vision.
- Try to aim your ZPG in the middle of an enemy clusters after Rocket Jumping.
- Perform this on slow-moving, stunned or immobile enemies to increase the chances of landing your shot.
- Perform this if an enemy gets close to you, such as a Snapdragon.
- Try and perform this behind enemies so they are more unaware.
USEFUL UPGRADES
Same as the upgrades for the "Deal 3,500 Damage with ZPG" challenge, with the following additinal upgrade:
- Rocket Leap (3 upgrade points), you travel further when you use your Rocket Jump, meaning you'll have a bit of an easier hitting enemies that are further away.
Land 1,000 Critical Hits.
For this, you need to land a total of 1,000 critical hits or more. This is best achieved using your Z-1 Assault Blaster primary weapon, but can also be achieved with the use of ZPG to speed this challenge up a bit. As you need to land several hits, large enemies like bosses and enemies with high health are good for this challenge as you can pour many hits into them. This challenge may sound daunting, but you should get it in no time if there are lots of enemies for you to inflict damage upon.
PvE TIPS
- Ops, Skirmishes and Free-roam Fights: Always aim for critical hits, which are generally the head. If bosses appear, make good use of them.
- Bosses and Boss Fights: Aim for their heads. Bosses are excellent to fight as they are easy to hit and you can pour tons of critical shots into them. Dreadwood and Blight Cap may be worth fight, or Sir Biff or Boff.
- Battle Chests and Bounty Hunts: Choose Bounty Hunts that have enemies with higher health. If doing a Battle Chest, try and take out enemies with higher health pools first, or that have more health remaining. After all, inflicting more critical hits don't hurt! Well, they do, it depends in which context.
PvP TIPS
- Aim for critical hitboxes whenever possible.
- Larger enemies are better to fight as they have more health and are generally slow-moving. Like Oak.
- Use the ZPG often to inflict extra critical hits.
- If your enemy is jumping around making it hard for you to inflict critical hits, do the same.
- Hide in your Stink Cloud while you do this so you can attack enemies in relative peace.
USEFUL UPGRADES
- Ammo Thing-A-Ma-Bob (2 upgrade points), you gain extra maximum ammunition, meaning you can land more critical hits with each clip of ammo you have.
- Ranger (2 upgrade points), when you are aiming, you get increased zoom, meaning you can inflict critical hits more easily from a distance.
- Rapid Fire (3 upgrade points), your weapon has an increased rate of fire, meaning you can inflict critical hits faster.
- Bottomless (3 upgrade points), whenever you get a vanquish with your primary weapon, you get more ammo, allowing you to keep shooting and getting even more critical hits.
- Critical Blow (3 upgrade points), by getting a critical vanquish (which remember you're aiming for critical hits), you recharge your other abilities faster, which means this upgrade rewards you for inflicting lots of critical hits.
# Upgrades that reduce cooldown time of abilities, like Combo, Refreshing Revive and Critical Blow, are useful for these challenges as they indirectly help by allowing you to use the abilities more often under specific circumstances.
Foot Soldier's challenges are quite manageable and can all be worked on at once. Remember to take any opportunities where you can gain XP. When you come across grouped enemies, especially in PvE areas, you can throw a Super Stink Cloud onto them, Rocket Jump into the air, and then fire your ZPG into the middle of all of your enemies, giving you progress to all of your 3 ability challenges at the same time. And, while you wait for your abilites to recharge, you can use specific upgrades to reduce these refresh times or start aiming for critical hits, which is especially useful if a boss is around. Your critical hits may take a while to complete, but if you keep that challenge in mind and take opportunities where you can earn a lot of them, it shouldn't take you long.
Well, hopefully this guide was helpful to some. See you next time! 🙂
