- Anonymous12 years agoDriver Date/Size: 12/18/2013 Card name: Intel(R) HD Graphics Family Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4500U CPU @ 1.80GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.4GHz HD4400 Mobile That's first Graphics in form of IGP. -------------------------------------------------------------- Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 820M Driver Date/Size: 7/2/2014 // 340.52 -- That's current and up to date. This is the second. 820M nVidia. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ============================================================================ First, confirm the game is using the 820m. You have it pinned to use the 820m in nVIdia Control Panel. In the 3D settings of nVIdia Control Panel I believe there is a icon you can enable that will show when it's being used. I think it only shows up when you have this type of setup, Intel + nVidia... If you cannot find a way to tell, you can use a program like "Afterburner" but do not install the RiviaTuner that come with it, RT can't be used with Origin in Game unless the detection level is tweaked.. any other overlay program and you can't use it at all. I haven't used a 820m but I've used an HD4000 and it doesn't act like that. Are you plugged directly into the Wall? Is the PowerProfile set to be High Performance. Lenovo has a software suite, dunno if you have it installed. I tried to google it... SP520 maybe? IdeaPad. HD4000Mobile under optimal conditions this game PvZ runs between 20 and 30fps, with a 30fps cap and all settings low. It's not ideal but it could work, I couldn't use it as a daily thing, more like a game or two in a hotel once every few months. HD4400 should be smoother. Check to see if your RAM is a single stick or dual channel. Pretty sure Speccy can do that. https://www.piriform.com/speccy/builds If your laptop has an easy access door on the back, check to see there's two stick ontop of each other. If there is only 1 slot for memory the 2nd is under the keyboard. Cuz heck sir why not, pretty sure it can boost IGP performance if there are two sticks in dual channel versus a single large stick. Try using the HD4400 instead of the 820m... I'd only do that once you firmly believe the 820m just isn't getting the job done. It's an unusual pairing to me as IGPs are hot on the tail... as you can see from my clickhappy benchmarks. You will need to update the HD4400 to the latest drivers and make the nVidia control panel target pvz.exe as the game you don't want it to run on. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/default.aspx That might even break your Optimus (the tech that switches graphics)... by updating the Intel. But at this point who cares because we have given up on teh 820m to test with. You can always jump back with system restore or uninstalling and using the drivers from lenovo's site, that should put optimus back in it's working place later. *edit Here is this bench, probably easier to see and directly comparable to PvZ in many ways more than other tests atleast. Wow that really stacks the odds again the HD4400 lol... I guess don't give up on the 820m Make sure you've reset Global Profile and/or done clean installs of the drivers.
- Anonymous12 years agoIMO, the nVIDIA n10s and n20s aren't even up to the performance levels of the Intel HD 4000 chips.

ty and heres the link if it works: http://pastebin.com/tPrFsTfG Your PC may be speedy for certain tasks, but gaming isn't one of them. Intel HD graphics and Geforce 820m are both entry level devices that aren't designed to run 3D video games. If you have a spare PCI-e 16x slot, you could install a gaming GPU. (Edit: This is for desktops. Wasn't paying attention.)
- Anonymous12 years agoThats an awful lot to take in, almost too much for me to handle as im not a huge computer person... But I tried dierectly connecting it with a internet cable, and it didn't make a difference. I checked speccy and I saw my computer had one stick, so what exactly does that mean? Trying to configure nVidia didn't exactly work... I got the Geforce Experience app on my desktop and i have to run it about 50 times untill it actually opens, and when I went to Pvz Gw it just says "geforce experience encountered an error and must close" So I went to the nVidia control panel. And this is what comes up this time; "You are not currently using a display attached to an NVIDIA GPU" Maybe THAT is causing it to lag. Also how do I check if I have an open PCI-e 16x slot?
- Anonymous12 years ago1 stick just means it isn't in Dual Channel memory mode... it likely will make the HD4400 have less performance than if it was in dual channel. In pretty much everything else, in my tests I've done over the years, I don't see hardly any difference for normal computer use whether it is single, dual, triple or quad channel, just a bigger benchmark number. Certain memory intensive tasks I'm sure but everyday usage it doesn't really mean much. Since IGPs use the memory though it can hurt or improve them. -------------- I dislike GeForce Experience. I view it as a over-simplified way to edit your profiles. Auto-mated things I'm just not fond of, I rather change the settings myself. If you had a big GPU card, it would probably be okay to use but I'd be hesitant if it gives you any benefit being on a low end. -------------- PCI-e 16x is on desktop computer towers. You don't have it on a laptop. There are other ways to tap into the PCI-E bus.. but it won't 16x... and the knowledge, experience, time doing something like that... it's out of your league to be frank. Doing a mod like that to a laptop hardly ever makes sense, it's done because you love toying/modding hardware.. a hobby for enthusiasts. There is no gaurantee it would even work even if you modded it correctly because of BIOS issues. ---------- Not using nVidia? http://imgur.com/a/6KJBH#87BGUaE (Replace BF with PvZ)
nVidia Control Panel -> 3D Settings -> Program Settings -> Add Program (PvZ) -> High Performance Processor
- Anonymous12 years agoI can't follow the instructions because it doesn't allow me to open the nvidia control panel, it just says "You are not currently using a display attatched to a NVIDIA GPU
- Anonymous12 years agoGo to Control Panel -> Uninstall nVidia Graphics Driver and all remaining nVidia **** installed programs. (physx, 3D, experience, audio, etc). Restart Install this: http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/77228/en-us\ Select "Clean Install" Restart Try open nVidia CP to do the above. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Still not fixed? Go to Control Panel -> Uninstall nVidia (yes again).... Uninstall all Intel Graphics HD Drivers (just 1 entry probably) Restart to Safe Mode. Run Display Driver Uninstall http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html Clean nVidia and Intel (Driver Sweeper is tool I used a lot... DDU seems to be what ppl recommend now) Restart Install http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/77228/en-us\ If you get into any trouble (BSOD). Safe Mode w/ Networking will save your bacon. Likely to fix it you just need to go to Device Manager and remove the Display Adapter. ----- Tell us what happened if it none of that works /// what it does. *Edit** Just wanted to emphasize the fact I do not want you to update your Intel drivers during any of that. I left it out on purpose.
