Re: Initial Thoughts/Feedback

Additional feedback:

I got through the main storyline stuff in Town Center last night but have a lot yet to do there (I'm at 59%). The experience overall is good but as posted elsewhere I feel the AI spawns need to be varied up a bit and not quite as often. Maybe a difficulty setting or something that would allow us to tweak mob density/respawn. The same AI keeps spawning in the same spots so changing it up a bit (i.e. not always an All-star with browncoats in the same spot every time) would make things feel more dynamic.

The new customizations are extremely good. I got a legendary volcano hat for the Snapdragon last night and finished that fish quest for the Peashooter one. Even the less rare ones look really good. One of the best things about GW1 & 2 is how amazing the customizations are but you guys really turned it up to 11 here. This is good stuff but I'm still not exactly a fan of the single 30k option to purchase stuff.

I noticed on the plant pots in Town Center during a quest and near the landing area that instead of using consumables, there's a timer. I presume this applies to the walkers too (I really need to get some MP maps in, plan to this weekend, but been so focused on Town Center and a little Giddy Park PvP last night). I like this change as it means you can's swarm a point with Outhouse zombies. The difference in power between summoning a basic browncoat and a coffin zombie is huge and like many long time players, I had 100s, even 1000s of some of these so could use whatever I wanted to.

While I haven't played enough PvP to judge it fully yet (i did enjoy jumping into Giddy Park as a space cadet on a space station and getting vanquishes with that guided missile), it's clear there's some serious balance issues going on, especially Fung Fu. In the public hub last night at least half the plants were Night Caps. We really don't want the repeat of rosepocalypse when a lot of people left GW2 early on between the teams of 10 roses and 2 other random plants. GW2 also had quite a few serious bugs that I haven't seen here yet but you really don't want to have the current situation go on much longer and definitely not when the game has its general launch in October.

Not quite yet done with Town Center but pretty close and while it can be a bit annoying here and there with some of the activities and being attacked while trying to get things done, it's been an excellent ride. I've played MMOs for over 15 years and this world feels far more alive than any of them (except maybe City of Heroes). Really looking forward to more of these free roam zones.

I had forgotten to mention that I'm so glad we can save loadouts and that customizations are much easier to find in BfN; two things I was asking for in GW2 for a long time. It's greatly appreciated.

Without giving too much away, that special gnome boss you get sent to defeat had one of the coolest areas to fight in I've ever seen. Love all the attention to detail on things like that.

Did my first PvP matches, they were quite fun but 2 things occurred that I need to bring up. First it locked up and crashed to desktop my first time in the game and 2nd I was in a space station on my space cadet and with overhealing we had over 700 health at one point! That's way too much health. I know there's a lot of balancing to look at but we only got vanquished when basically their entire team focused us. Both of the new team characters need to be looked at.

After a few more I found that I still enjoyed the matches a lot, even with the need for balancing. That first park point, where the zombies are going to capture the TV station, that point is rough for zombies to take, regardless of which team I was on.

We made a station with 3 of us on Giddy Park and even Oaks are melted by the crater maker and even when a few plants came after us we had no problem dealing with them and had over 500 health. It's a big target and you're combining several players together but you can stay in it indefinitely, the health gets far too high, the riders can shield you, and you can get back in one with no cooldown. A lot of his also applies to the Oak. I love the idea of the teams and the Space Cadet is my favorite new character but this needs to be looked at.

Also, the plant and zombie areas at Giddy Park are too easy to camp. Maybe put some turrets there or something to at least help or have it spawn bosses when the other side gets too close. We need more AI there anyway, bosses, champions, maybe some gnomes that attack both sides. It's a neat area but it feels that it could be so much more.
