You can technically play by yourself in Co-op mode, however the game is meant to be played with others. Xbox One also offers Splitscreen mode where you can play with someone else at home. There is no campagn mode as the other user said.

I am hoping EA will realize that campaign mode, or at least split screen mode capabilities for the 360 version of this game is necessary. I have kids (one of which is the recipient of this game for his birthday) that I don't let play online regularly. You shouldn't be required to pay for the game and for gold monthly membership for the right to play a game.
Let's hope they make some changes!

hey guys hey community manager I would like to see capture the flag mode in gardenwarefare (flower or miracle seed for plants/cure for zombies)
Would like to see king of the hill/domination/searching destroy like call of duty (not a full price game but you still need too keep up).
These ideas are little of many to make a great game better or epic.
also real troble connecting right now in the uk (wales). xAt least your 12 year old gets to play this. My 12 year old can't play Star Wars: Battlefront and when I called EA they said you aren't allowed to play online in the US if you are under 13 so they blocked his EA account by his birthday. It doesn't matter that as his parent I have approved this and have our XBox settings adjusted accordingly.
What a terrible waste of money. Bought this for my kids. Went through the annoying process of registering the game and creating an account. Then found out my kids have to play against strangers online and can't play split screen against each other. Into the garbage it goes.
First, why haven't you bought the sequel? It has split screen, so your kids can play together. Also, you should better do some research before buying a game.
