Re: Possibly Few People Abusing A Bug?!?

So what exactly is happening? Are they displaying the goop effect and still moving at full speed? Do you know how to do it?

Are you shooting where they "should" have been gooped and they're not being gooped?

This sometimes happens because you hit on your screen but its not making contact on the server so the two actions unsynced, and the victim's reaction is according to the server.

Yeah that all sounds great, and like something that anyone should expect if you have a slow connection that is not directly connected to a fiber optic connection and so on and so forth.

However.. what I am talking about is people exploting known bugs that I may or the devs may not be familar with people exploting!

It's not just me, but others have also already commented on certain instances here as well.

You goop a player, they have the effect on them. Sometimes they stand still, you are unable to kill them, they can't kill you. Someone else on their team kills you while this is happening. At other times, not everyone but at least 2 people I know who are over 100 and have been playing as long as I have, have started using something know else can do!

They gooped, and will slowly walk out of it, and around you while shooting you!

I'm now level 104, been playing since the game came out. WIll admit I don't know anything, but know a few things.

  • Yours has been the only mention I've heard of anything like this issue. A clear description of the issue would be nice, without the "other times".

There is a random low occurrance issue where a Chomper will swallow a victim, get the kill but the victim will still be alive, where they were swallowed. Haven't seen any solid way to reproduce this reliably though.

What goop issue are you seeing that you think is being exploited? Only the Super Goop should root the player, the normal goop allows players to continue moving, just very slowly.

Amazing how someone is giving you XP for answering things that are not related and for you trying to sound liek a know it all!

Yes the super goops is suppose to be the only one to "root" people.

I will use "other times" or whatever other verbage I choose, thanks!

It is clearly not the only other mention, as if you look at the post someone else has mentioned noticing the player not being "rooted"/cessle.

Furthermore unless you are a developer of this title, please do not attempt to belittle me while i am trying to gain clarity on a situation! I do not need to make anything clearer. I asked something simple, if people have also noticed that someone people might be exploting some bug/error/coding mistake/glitch/etc. where players are moving after being goop'd.

I gave that XP...becuase overclocked is asking the questions needed to find the root cause/explain what it might be

I dont think he was belittling you, everyone just wants to figure out what the issue is.  A majority of the items posted here do not provide enough information or steps for a Dev to action on.  Basically at this point without either more info or other people coming forward with more info there isnt much to be done

your giivng him xp for asking questions?!? Ok

Yeah well till more people come forward and say something guess it wont be looked into, if that is how your suggesting the dev's handle things. But there is clearly a few issues with the chomper since the additons of the new skills.

Well basically Im saying, if a dev hasnt experienced it and theres not enough info then how can they look into it?

Also there's no real rules for XP as far as I can tell, so yes, I gave it for the right questions :P

    I see.

So you are not a deve, but you have a list of what the dev's know as possible errors? In my time as a Q/A and working in post production, most dev's don't know what errors are in their code in a code/game until a Q/A (quality & assusurance tester) let's them know here is where I found an issue. But if this game works differently ...

None the less thanks for clearing up all my concerns guys, xp for everyone! 😉

I'm not claiming to be or not be anything....but Devs/QA etc do check in on posts sometimes. And sometimes they need more info to work together to get to the bottom of things.

    There you go buddy!

No offense but it felt as if you were on some high horse for a sec there.

    To get back on topic:

I am hoping the Dev's will see this and hve some Testers(Q/A) do some test to find out how buggy the chomper is! That's all I was trying to establish. Wether we all agree that there are some issues or not.

    You're killing me lol

Being subtle doesnt work on a forum I guess.  My name is in the credits.  More info is needed on this issue to determine its cause.

PS: My horse is very high :P

Oh I do apologize, didn't know your name was in the credits! WIll have to have a look for you in the credits, your name there is picklebird?

And by the way that you were communicating I just figured you were some other random gamer chiming in on "what they thnk they know".

    As an example:

Player is directly strcuk with rooting agent/Goop. Player who is suppose to be object enclosed"rooted" moves from left to right, and is able to jump.

In another example of where I've seen possible bug abuse is someone noticing that they will not die as a engineer if they are interacting with a turret, suddendly stop, jump on and directly back off the jackhammer, thus suddenly avoiding death. Also while this happens the player seems to not be able to be attacked. I've only seen this working against chompers, and have done it to chompers coming after me!

Let' see how else have I noticed people taking advantage of gaming flaws related to the chomper... Oh I will get back to you as I am in a game currently, and will switch to other side after this round to test my other thoughts..

Also if the rooting is suppose to root players, and make skills unusable. How is it that some people are still able to use skills like warp or the zpg?!?!

I've been able to warp while gooped if I press the button to active the ability before the goop hits, it has a slight delay before the skill activates so it still warps you if you activate it before hand.

Yeah it seems that the trooper is able to do something similar with the ZPG! And also using the leap, but I've seen some people use the leap while they are goop'd. Odd...

For what its worth, I can second this. I can also confirm activation of Warp, Sprint Tackle, ZPG, and Imp Punt "while" gooped. Ability was definately activated before goop landed. All abilities were activated in an attempt to escape an incoming chomper.

Ok now that people are chiming in! =)

So when the rooting/goop hits and it seems to stick the victim, while said vicitm is either in mid use of a skill or attempting to use a skill while being goop'd they use their last abilty. Something similar can be observed in Garden Ops where gooping a AI right before they use a skill (the apporiate timing of the skills usage) will result in the duration of the goop not lasting nearly as long!  While I've noticed that in all other game modes including Op's that if users apply the goop without any of the said cirumstances, then the goop last the complete duration it is supposed to.

Which leads me back to my orignal point of some people know of  a different method where the root/goop doesn't even effect them and they freely move! Not as in where the effect has been applied and right before the vicitim was able to use a skill to evade  gooping. Or whatever way we can word that. Not sure how they are doing it, or if it is meant to be in the game, but once again I've seen 2 people, one of which told me in a private message "stop whinining" when I clearly asked him "hey man, how are you able to move when I am using the super goop?. thanks".
