Re: PvZ causing fairly high end CPU and GPU to overheat

Played a full round.  Temps quickly reached their peaks and never showed signs of climbing.

Made sure SLI was disabled so the top card (the one that has reduced air flow because of sli) was working it's butt off.

GPU temp 77~81c    that's incredibly cool for these GPUs... I can make them hit 100c easy with a benchmark

CPU, core sensors, highest core reports 67c... again insanely cool compared to what a bench does.

Those are my findings.  The game was on Ultra and had a fps limit of 60... if that was taken off temps of the GPU would surely climb.

SLI 480's  1063mV  800/1600/2000

i7 920 @ 4Ghz

Ran quite a bit cooler than BF4.  With the same fan profile, BF4 can make them roar... this game with SLI disabled and Ultra... something isn't adding up.

I'm not sure what is happening for you guys but I'd like to get to the bottom of it...  It will require some work on your end testing what your temps are in another game, in a benchmark and in this game.  Your load % would be interesting too.  I can imagine it probably is pushing a single 660 fairly pretty high, but it should able to keep it cool.  I guess I'm immune to having a jet engine beside me...

In a few days I can do it with a 4790k... I have no 3xxx generation around... unless you count my firewall but I'm not going through that trouble to tear that thing apart for this lol

  • I monitor my temps in almost everygame and they are more or less like this in most of them:

    CPU:  60ºC

    GPU: 70ºC

    In PvZ Garden Warfare:

    CPU: 69ºC

    GPU: 75ºC

    Here are my specs:

    MB GA Z77-D3H

    2x4GB Kingston HyperX 1600Mhz DDR3

    GTX 660Ti (Zotac)

I5 3570K OC 4.2Ghz (Cooled with CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Plus)

    Seasonic M12II Evo Edition 620W

I can rarely hear the fans while playing games, but with PvZ GW even with a lot of sounds going on, i can hear the fans really loud.
