Re: To Gesture, When Not to Gesture

It is a little rude to do so, but sometimes it's needed to get a point across. I generally pop a gesture after clearing out a bunch of enemies and surviving. (usually around a TP or an objective) I was also guilty of taunting after killing Roses back when she was OP - because they were scum that abused a broken character and needed to be taught a lesson.

Sometimes, it's out of respect. I had this one game in Seeds of Time where this Hot Rod Chomper went out of his way to try and assassinate my Deadbeard over and over again. And honestly, the guy was pretty darned good at it. We traded kills back and forth - and eventually the taunt battle began. I started to get a little clever using the barrel/cannon, and he'd get clever using the terrain and his team to try and distract me. Near the end of the game, I got on my cannon to prevent him from burrow chomping me. He unburrows in front of me and starts taunting me. I get off and taunt back out of respect - we do this for about a minute til the game ends. (My team was pretty bad anyways) The guy messages me later and we share a laugh and throw some GG's back at each other.

  • i only gesture when someone is camping out and has a streak, when someone taunts me, or when I vanquish someone who keeps picking on me. I let people shoot me when i'm taunting them because I want to show them they have a strong enemy.

I do it because I like to show my enemies that I don't care about dying, getting vanquish streaks and by taunting someone who doesn't fire back shows they are either laughing or fearless. I don't run up to someone and taunt though, I generally just stand there starring at them, waiting for them to realise my presence and when they do, if they start the fight I usually end it and then taunt. Depends, if some one is using a ridiculous broken or overpowered character I'll taunt then too. Players who hide on rooftops and every time you hit them they run away, like surviving to them is so important...

One thing that does irritate me sometimes though is when you're doing a challenge and you have a ridiculously longer taunt which ultimately gets you killed, but because I just want my challenge doing more than surviving it has to be done. When you see a highly ranked player, or one that's constantly getting boasts each game and you kill them knowing full well you just prevented a boast for them, that's when I taunt, I like to rub it in because I don't like players who camp, or care too much.
