Remove ZPG/Shuck Shot Facepunching

Last game in GW1, there were multiple threads on this one, so I thought I'd bring it back up here.

They ought to add a minimum arming range to the ZPG and now, Shuck Shot, where the projectiles will do 150 damage instead of an instant kill unless they've been in flight for at least half a second. This minor change prevents Soldier and Kernel players from simply activating that ability for a cheap, free kill against melee classes the minute they get close, and is a get out of jail free card against Chomper and Super Brainz.

Edit: Wow, the forum is THIS toxic about ideas they don't like? The guy below me already explained why they kept it in GW2.

Well don't forget that when using the ZPG or Shuck Shot there is a small charge time on them allowing The Chomper or Super Brainz to hurt or possibly vanquish them, And the Chomper can Burrow to avoid damage from the ZPG and Super Brainz can use his Turbo Twister to reduce the damage taken from Shuck Shot so i don't really see a problem with it.

If you get killed by it, you deserved to get killed by it.  Don't want to die?  How about you don't get close enough to die.  Pretty simple if you ask me.  And as stated, ZPG insta shot has been around since the first game, so it's not going to go anywhere.  We will let the developers decide...want to bet who wins?  I have a clue for you...it will be me and the others that say don't nerf it.  So suck it.

Such delicious toxicity about a game featuring plants fighting zombies. Let the thread die fellas.

I dissagree with avoiding chomper with the burrow ability.

The chomper can still get damaged while digging in the ground, once you see the dig power bar, you are officially safe, but a ZPG, good luck.

Why are people defending zpg and shuckshot face punching? It's stupid. At point blank range (in which cqc characters are effective) you can just fire instakill rockets and destroy the enemy without even trying really. Why would a cqc character have to be afraid to engage a medium ranged character?
I think a great solution would be to make do only splash damage for the first 5m and then scale up to full potential in 8-10m.
Also husk hop is very very stupidly op, I took out a full health mech with it!
  • I don't think I've ever had this happen to me- both the ZPG and the Shuck Shot have a second or two of an 'Arming" phase when it's pretty obvious what is about to happen and if you keep your wits about you and react fast enough you can either deploy a countermeasure, like Peel Shield or Tackle Dummy or just try to get out of the way to avoid the direct hit.

It fine, both zpg and shuck shot have a charge time so you have some time to react before they actually shot you, bunch of char have way to dodge it.

In particular, superbrain just need to do a superjump to dodge it,chomper is the one that have to least options, but most of the time goop should be enough to screw up foot soldier aim which can help you dodging it. And if you suspect a foot soldier attempting to zpg you out of borrow, just wait a bit below him so that he waste it.

This is a problem that needs a fix. The whole argument of charge time really isn't that strong considering the bad servers atleast on my end. Burrow takes time, even in turbo twister the damage is a lot and husk hop would finish the job. Overall it just adds to the randomness and messyness that is pvz gw2. And also: Armor chomper. He has no chance of dodging those zpgs at close range even with goop and burrow.
