So as a gamer i have a full time job. This means I don’t get alot of time to play the grind on games, but i do have a bit of cash to spend.
So i was wondering what the chances where of getting purchasable coin packs (eg pay money for coins) to be added to the game for those of us that wouldn’t mind paying to bypass some of the grind? Also i find at the moment that I’ve been playing to unlock stuff, but not really been enjoying doing it.
Idealy i was thinking small transactions for larger amounts of coins. Realistically no one is going to pay a pound for a pack, but i recon id pay £5 for around 12000 coins (allowing you to grab 3 new classes if you wanted). I'd be interested to hear what everyone else would find acceptable for this.
Another thing that would be great, looking at the micros on some mobile games, would be a one off purchase of around £2.50 for a x2 boost to be applied to coins earned. That kind of price is affordable to everyone, and still cuts out some grind.
The simple answer is no. Others have a point that this type of transaction has started to alter the industry in a rather unfavorable way. Thing is companies see one thing and that is money, if an action makes money a company will do it. This has lead to locked on-disc content, pay to win, and cash exculsives. When a company discovers it can get additional money after a game is released they begin pushing the boundary of what players will pay, so those who can afford to spend real money benefit.
Consider that while you may be able to afford such transactions being an adult with a job, many of the players are kids who will want the same priledges/speed ranking. In these cases who will be paying the money? Not the kids, it will be the parents with jobs who are nagged into it. But, there is more. Since coins roughly translate into new packs, which only MAY have a chance of what you want, this essentially introduces gambling to the game. Buy coins, "Bet" on the pack that the RNG will determine if it has what you want, repeat as often as the RNG decides. It would be no different than collecting pokemon cards, except there is 0 resale/collectable value.
Just to be clear, coins have one functional purpose and that is new characters. Beyond that is just cosmetics and consumables.
Actually this makes sense. Im going to edit the description abit. I still think the small cost purchase for a lifetime coin boost is viable, but perhaps a pack to unlock all additional classes could be useful. All the abilities and cosmetics would have to be earned in game still, but it gives some flexibility.
