Requires PlayStation Plus??

is it a must to play PvZ GW with a PS+ membership?

can i play offline with local multiplayer?

    This is actually incorrect, you need PS+ to access splitscreen mode. Only Xbox One allows for splitscreen play without Gold.

    Garden Warfare has no offline play, all aspects of the game require an active internet connection, splitscreen will still need to pull inventory and progression data from the servers.

    The game requires PlayStation + in order to play online but you will have access to the offline split-screen mode without PS+.

    Above information is not correct, as stated by overclocktoaster below, you need PS+ for the split-screen coop mode as well.
