Players probably wouldn't feel like they need to be rewarded if games stopped all the micro transactions forcing players to invest money into the game just to get everything and see good results.
Vey few exceptions, me being one of them - I'm in the Ultimate League and I don't expect more rewards, but where else can I unlock the missing heroes and cards from now, collecting 50 gems per day because even the hourly quests are glitched and don't reward you for completing two at once? Come off it.
The thing is, players don't need to invest money to get everything because they don't need all the cards to get good results. (My best deck barely has a couple of super-rares!)
Unfortunately, greed is human nature and that's why the micro-transaction model works. People get more excited by getting these "rewards" than by the actual game they are playing. Having micro-transactions is necessary to make the rewards have a value and to make money. This is why games that simply have a one time cost and have a controlled progression inside the game just don't work anymore, people refuse to make the initial downpayment because they feel entitled to play everything for free, while at the same time those few who are interested in paying, only have one payment to make and then lose interest because there is nothing more to get.
If people were happy just playing the game because playing the game is fun, the "living card game" model would make more money, where you make a one time payment to get all the cards in a game.
I'm currently in Taco League, slowly climbing up the ranks, with the objective of getting to Ultimate League at least once in the lifetime of this game, and I'm having great fun even though I'm not getting any new cards. It took me 4-5 months to get to where I am and the journey was lots of fun and continues to be for me, which is why I find it very sad that people feel that they are not having fun if they can't have fully powered decks within the first couple of weeks or need to be constantly earning hundreds of gems and gaining new cards every day.
BTW, in your specific case, let me give you some suggestions:
- When you complete multiple quests at once, don't tap the collect button, instead, tap the gems on each quest one by one. That guarantees that you get all the gems. Also, I believe this is UI bug and you are actually getting the gems even if you tap the collect button, but tapping the gems guarantees it.
- Individual heroes are sold for 750 gems. A different one rotates every weekend. If you already have that hero, you will just see a pack that costs 300 gems, but if you don't you can get the hero guaranteed for 750. You should be able to get a new hero at least every two weeks but it probably takes more than that for the ones you need to rotate. However, I would recommend against purchasing them. I'm in a similar situation and I plan to just save my gems so that I have at least 2000 (but preferably 5000) when the new set releases. If the rumours are true and the ranked ladder is reset, then I will be able to gather gems again with the new ladder and then get the heroes I'm missing eventually, but by saving up I will be able to buy a nice stash of new cards so I can build the best decks while I'm at it.
