Four of the Five items offered from RUX's new visit are ones I already have at that point. The only item I didn't have at that point was Bling Iron Maiden. This particular visit from RUX is catastrophically terrible. No joke.
I think the dev team is being too used to offering us items we already have as a community, so realistically, they should offer items based on the individual player's requests, rather than just for the whole community. If they can do that, the dev team will offer us those items by our request. We - the community - need to list those specific items by our individual request, and I have a few ideas on what the next RUX visit will be, by my request:
1. RUX-Exclusive Legendary Hat for the Peashooter Class as part of the FLF DLC
2. Legendary Consumable - DJ Uplink x10
3. Multi-Shuck for the Corn class
4. Legendary Hat for the Rose Class
5. Random Classic GW1 Item
The items offered really should be based on the individual player. This isn't a complex problem to solve. A little database query and you are done. (I'm a software and game developer -- I know this isn't complex.) There could be a list of RUX items for the month as normal, but then if a player already has something on that list, pick something else to display. This is really basic stuff in game dev.
I thought this month's RUX was excellent. For the first time in many months, RUX offered special abilities, and I was pleased to see that three of them were abilities I had missed in the past (that was a big deal for me since I have missed *very* few). RUX's past several appearances have been abysmal.
In response to a previous suggestion for what RUX should have:
Multi-shuck I've never heard of. If this is a real thing, I'd love to get a hold of that!
Consumables in general are annoying and I definitely don't want to see legendary versions wasting space in RUX's inventory. It's bad enough getting consumables in a pack when there are still items I don't have from that set. The whole idea of Legendary consumables is extremely annoying anyway. Why would I want to spend that much money on a consumable? That's just silly. Sure, they look cool, but in multiplayer their lifespan is measured in seconds, and in Garden/Graveyard Ops, you are the only person that gets to see them. Since all Legendary consumables are seasonal in nature, they should just automatically replace the standard consumables during the appropriate time of year.
Legendary items are fun. I like those because they do stuff when you score a vanquish, so that's nice.
Random classic GW1, I absolutely *hate* seeing these in RUX inventories. It's bad enough getting these items in exchange for Rainbow Stars. Most of the GW1 Classic items were dull and uninteresting, and so are not worth the price. And there are so many items in GW1 that attempting to collect them all just to get the rare few that were interesting is an exercise in tedium. I definitely don't want to see them cluttering up the precious few spaces available to RUX, who generally seems to be reserved for truly special items or alternate abilities.
Ultimately, RUX really should stick to just legendary items and new abilities (tailored so that you don't get presented with something you already own). We already have to wait a month between appearances, it really sucks when RUX has nothing but junk and the one good thing he has, you already own.
