The point I was mostly trying to make is that they feel like a soldier class rather than support. The astronaut is good for long range and does good damage, while others can dominate me no matter what class I am. They don't look or feel like a support like they're intended to be.
One of the reasons it's fun to play the scientist variant is because of how flexible it can be. You can play assassin and go for the kills or you can heal and plant healing stations to help your team. From the plants perspective, just don't let them get to close to you.
