"Searching for an opponent" long wait times

I'm only posting about this because I've never had to wait over two minutes to find a player for multiplayer ranked match. I'm used to only waiting maybe 3-7 seconds for someone to fight against but all of today and still tonight, I've had to wait at least a minute sometimes longer to find someone; when someone is found it is for some reason someone at a low rank (not that it matters). For examples, I waited for a while to find someone then got someone at rank 1 which seems odd.

I wonder if this means that there are fewer players today or fewer players overall after the new deck set. Anyone else experience a delay in finding an opponent or is it just me?

I've been having the exact same problem, only in my case I tend to get matched with players who are 10 ranks or higher than me, in the Taco and Ultimate Leagues.

Since the player matching system is opaque there is no way to know what method is being used to match players up against each other.

It really does seem as though less people are playing since Colossal Fossils got released; at least, it does here in Europe.

Could be that there's alot more going on atm outside of online gaming. Major league sports are full swing now, no pun intended although it works well for baseball playoffs on right now, and NFL, NBA, and NHL just got their seasons off not long ago.
Also summer is over and so there's that annoying education thing....and also school teams and clubs and whatnot.

I noticed longer wait times as well, but as plants it's about like zombies were last season.
I get better matchup while plants also, zombies I would be playing gold league or silver a couple times while I'm 49 now, but was levels 33-39 and climbing to taco league it felt cheap, stepping on little 13 or 18 or worst I have had this season was level 11, and I conceded that game anyway. Plants I get either 40s or 50, so that's fine with me
  • This happens more often that you would expect it to.

This technically means: "There are a ton of players on your side (Plants/Zombies) and not many on the other side (Zombies/Plants)."

The next time this happens, try switching sides. (If you usually play as Zombies, switch to plants and viceversa).

You will see that the queue time will drop drastically.

(Or just play some casuals meantime)

That's actually how I started playing zombies. When I first got this game and although I don't remember what I was starting with, but anytime I tried to play as a plant I either got no match or waiting for what felt like forever. So I made up a zombie deck and was in games almost as fast as I pressed the "play" button and never looked back.
Now I have lots of both factions, so I usually prep two decks... One of each side, and if it is taking forever, I cancel and try the other side....and usually the match is quick
I do the same with 10x heroes, because I hate waiting and waiting to play, when the countdown can be running down instead of standing idle and waiting for me to win to reset the time
