Soil Survivor discussion

Soil survivor starts tomorrow so I open this thread to discuss your experience, your feedback(improvement and defects) you like to report.

Soil Survivors Comes to the Mystery Portal

Grab your friends and get ready for battle in a new team elimination mode – Soil Survivors – coming to select co-op maps in the Mystery Portal, February 19–25. Take the best of five in this fast-paced game mode where the arena shrinks every 30 seconds, bringing players so close you can actually smell Captain Deadbeard’s briny musk (at least we think that’s what that smell is). There are no health regeneration or revives in Soil Survivor, so once you’re out, you’ll be a spectator until the next round starts. Plus, teams are auto-balanced, so anyone can join in on a fair fight!

From this overview, seems we have:

1. 5 plants vs 5 zombies

2. Autobalance: If this means level based matching, not sure if this's a good idea.

3. Fast pace: Hope it doesn't do super speed here. I hate super speed.

Strategy:

1. Sun Flower or scientist healing is key to keep the team healthy and strong.

2. Stick together to stay alive and cover each other back.

3. Control the central point as early possible as a team since the map will shrink to this point.

4. While together means strength but need to watch out for suicide/catastrophic attack such as imp punt, anti-gravity, bean bomb, that could wipe out the whole team.

5. Jump and shoot like a bunny 🙂

Questions:

1. Is Z-Mech allowed in this game mode? If yes, it will be a huge disadvantage for plants since when all z-mech show up at the same time, there's no way to win it.

2. If you have toxic brains, pair with a scientist that always healing you, then punch, punch (even punch poor plant pot) and go to toxic mode then finish the rest. Not sure if they allow toxic brains here, it's too overpowering.

If you've other strategies, post it here.

I heard from @dwooten77 that the game is now adding AI players in order to fill lobbies.  Interesting.

It does nothing to solve the REAL problem, which is AFK players.  What I think would be pretty cool is if the game took over control of a player's character after a certain duration of inactivity, turning them into AI.

@pandareno1999 It is true. They added AI players. AI players are really good. In one round, foot soldier(last zombie on my team) killed 3 plants(human players).

@pandareno1999   The AI replacement would be great for casual AFK players who just stand around. Problem is that many of them use macros, and if you have AIs plus AKFs combined - that make's for a "great" team. 🤒

I got streak master once tonight from finding a place on the roof of aqua center where I could shoot three AFK players in their spawn.

Well done! So at least they died sort of "active" instead of getting swallowed by the storm. 😉

    UUUUGHH.... no!

Please tell me the AFK people were booted.   I played all day yesterday without a single AFK.  Now I'm worried the remainder of the event will be plagued with AFK'ers (that's how it usually works; the first day is incident free and the remainder of the event is ruined).

@EA_Blueberry  - looks like nothing changed.

    =[

The remainder of this event is useless.

Want to let you know this feedback was sent up to the team and I'm right there with you, AFK players can put a damper on fun for events and game modes. I'm afraid to say we don't have any official updates to share on plans around this in the near future. This is excellent feedback for the team though and we'll continue to share sentiment from these forums their way for better experiences in the garden going forward. 👍

Same crap...AFK players, storm way way too fast and harmful (I died in middle of map as cactus trying to out run it early but it surpassed and killed me in about 2 seconds)...and now AI players must be on expert because they can hit you from anywhere making drones useless and difficult to play because I don't know if I have to worry if player has expert aim.  Private Puddles had 5 kills one game and an AI picked me out of the air full health when trying to husk hop.  Also had dirt bags quitting completely out and rejoining to get on winning team after first game.  Maybe they will improve it in GW3 but for now it's typically one team stomps the other.
