Spawnable discussion: Laser bean and Pea repeater

Laser bean and Pea repeater.

Laser bean

Gw1 description:

Laser Bean is great at two things: Shooting giant lasers out of his eyes, and staring contests.

Idk how much health he necessarily has but it isn't much. Is a medium range precision pot.

He attacks with the Hot laser which he fires in what appears to be rapid six shots that deal 7-9 damage depending on the range.

He does a summersualt when planted.

Pea repeater

Gw1 description:

Fires multiple peas, dealing more damage than the Pea Cannon.

Has 60 health and is a long range pot.

Attacks with the large pea double shot. Fires two peas each of which do 15 damage.

Neither of these two were brought to gw2.

Laser bean is a mediocre pot and a buff I would suggest would be that his lasers can pierce through multiple zombies like mob cobs attacks.

Pea repeater seems fine but he should be more rare.

This the end of all the pots in the series. If another game was made I hope popcap adds more pots and bots and designs maps that will utilize them to the best of their potential.

I've also made some mistakes on other posts that I will correct here.

In gw1 pea gatling fired nonstop rather than 2's 8 round burst.

Snapdragon, scaredy shroom, and bonk choy all ignored armor in gw1.

I may try and do posts about rare non spawnable enemies in gw like the saucer imp.

  • Laser Beans are great in GW, and was happy to see them added after I started playing. They need to come back, they can coexist with super bean with no problem in my book. Pretty decent at shooting at medium ranges.

Repeater lacks identity as it's in between the regular peashooter and pea gatlings, but I still would like them back in the next game. They work fine and no reason to not add variety to the game.

@Iron_Guard8 If pea shooter can have a dozen small minions of himself and his family tree I dont see why other plants can't as well. The piercing idea was to give more incentive to plant them.

Repeater needs somwthing to stand out but I'm not necessarily sure as to what, maybe more damage?

I would have liked to see all of the Pots appear in GW2 and to have tried them out, even the ones I did not get to try out from GW, such as the Laser Bean and Pea Repeater (although maybe Zombie Bot variants would need to be added as counterparts).

The Repeater sounds a lot like the Pea Gatling to me based on what I heard, so I agree that he would need to be unique in a way compared to the other Peashooter Pots.

The Laser Bean sounds like a really useful Pot, does it have piercing damage by chance like Mob Cob (I know he has strikethrough in Heroes)?

Thanks for creating these discussions @stukapooka, I have actually learnt a lot from them!

@TheSprinter85In pvz 2 and heores laser bean has piercing but he doesn't in gw1 so he's overall mediocre (not bad just not unique), a buff to pierce multiple oppenents would be great and true to his roots. Repeater in gw1 was treated as an upgrade to pea cannon but lesser than pea gatling as gatling in gw1 fired non stop unlike gw2's 8 round burst version.

I'd love to see this two return with bot counterparts.

@stukapooka It does seem to me that Repeater basically turned into Gatling Pea in GW2 and BFN, since Gatling Pea essentially does what Repeater in GW.

I would really like to see a Piercing mechanic added to Laser Bean and a Zombie counterpart for it as well.

@TheSprinter85Replaying gw1 and i didn't realize how busted infinite ammo pea gatling is when zombies don't focus him, yeah only three damage per shot compared to repeaters 15x2 and cannon's 20 but with infinite ammo he can just keep stacking damage on a target.

Laser bean is a charcter I really want to see return as it was fun to see my favorite pvz2 plant in the cast.
