Taunts (Pics & Speech)
Interested to know if anyone is getting as tired as I am of certain pics & speech phrases being used as insulting taunts post-vanquish & on the podium? I'm not a huge fan of taunts being used post-v...
I pretty much never taunt. In fact in GW2's taunt challenges/quests I always did them against AI or if my friend was on, we'd taunt each other to get them done. Most of the messages are amusing (the cantaloupe one, beef wellington, etc.), but yeah adding the poo emote didn't help anything.
I actually haven't seen that many taunts in BfN but I've barely touched PvP since the 8v8 change after testing it out for a few days so if it's gotten bad, I can't say from my own experience. Ops have been pretty friendly overall, usually stuff like 'loving' for getting heals or just emoting between waves, cheering for elite bosses, etc.
Overwatch had voice chat and that game was really toxic, so much so that it may now be worse than World of Tanks was and that game was awful for that. Love getting death threats from the first guy destroyed on my team when I can't win as the last tank on the team against 3 enemies of equal and greater tiers.
@Iron_Guard8 That's good that you haven't seen much taunters - people who do so frequently should not taunt every time they earn a vanquish!. I very rarely taunt, because I'm often healing up my health or too busy in battle. 12 v 12 Turf Takeover > More Battle and Chaos > Less Time to Taunt, or More Likely to Be Vanquished if Taunting. If the developers revert back to 12v12, I'm all for it! 8v8 is OK though!

Ohhhh... I have very BAD memories of WOT.... I was still in Scotland and my partner was in Croatia so we were playing together, I was a total noob and could barely steer my tank and had not a clue about the maps let alone anything else. The game got quite intense and before I knew it it was only me and another guy left on the team... suddenly it was all on me as the other guy overturned his tank.... the comments on the left hand side of the screen started pouring in and my bf was shouting (from Croatia)... I had to either cap the point (well that wasnt going to happen) or get the other tank back on its tracks again. Insults and rude stuff were flying and I was uber stressed, somehow with the luck of the gods and my partner screaming instructions I managed to get the guy back on his tracks and he capped the point and we won. Hurray you would think?
Nope I was so stressed I was in tears, it was the most horrible thing I have subjected myself to in the name of so called fun. Needless to say that was my World of Tanks career over 😃
I couldn't believe how mean and rude and horrid they were ☹️
😭 It's just so unnecessary.
Gaming is supposed to be FUN.

I was raised in a challenging environment and at one point in life, gaming was the ONLY thing I had to look forward to. Now that I’m grown, I think back to that troubled time in my life and it terrifies me to think where I’d be now, if I didn’t have gaming back then. I seriously doubt I’d be here today. 🙁.
When I see people taunting me, now, it isn’t that bad but I think about misfortunate youth and get really protective/defensive when I see online bullying/taunting. Many times, it’s rich, young, worthless kids or those exposed to a harsh life that do the taunting and they don’t realize that their bullying actions could lead to other troubled youth making devastating choices. At best case scenario, it will only make people leave the game. Taunting minimally is fine but providing bullying words and pictures of crap speaks volumes to me about the guys creating this content.
Still floors me to see this trash as part of a series I love.
