That is one of the interesting changes compared to GW. Now with a few exceptions nothing really messes with damage output or changes the impact of damage received.
Those damage and health upgrades are a common sight in GW and nowhere to be found here.
It's difficult to compare the BFN & GW upgrades - while there aren't the same kind of direct primary damage upgrades, there are plenty that make abilities stronger / more powerful & I think a lot of these are actually more damaging than a straight-forward damage increase upgrade.
The health upgrades don't exist in BFN because that's covered by the ability of the healers to add over-health.
