Well well well, an old saying is true: you can't teach an old dog a new trick  🙂

As a player, you have to keep adapting to the character's adjustment. When they're so many characters, it's hard to balance them. Once you shift a balance of one/group character, the other characters have to be rebalanced as well.

At one point, I was feeling it was already balanced, the EA feel nothing to do, feel little bored, let shake things up, then whole range need to be rebalanced, it's a lot of works and some people happy and some might not be happy. 

But you just have to adjust and adapt, it might suck since your favorite character becomes suck now, but you can learn other character and become good at it and become your next favorite character (until EA adjust it again) and the cycle repeat.

For example, I love chomper, and they will adjust it, so I will have to learn and adapt to it, it might suck when I play it but I might be glad when I play against it.

There're two sides of a coin, you need to learn to see both sides of it.

I'm a late starter to GW2 (beginning of 2018) and an older player ... missed GW1completely... and this is first game Ive ever played for more than 2 months... and I love it :D
When the first "balance" thing happened I was a bit, oh jeez...
just learning characters and now have to adjust etc... but I have come to terms with it.
For veteran players it must a nightmare as they watch their favs being buffed/nerfed/messed about with... 😞
I guess for me as a new player its not such a big thing
but as @Gormey, and @asukojo point out... you just have to go with the flow, newbie or veteran.

What scares me sometimes though is the constant flow of commentary from the community with suggestions and "moans" about this character, that character, blah blah.
While I bow down to those that understand balancing, mechanics and everything involved in such things, and their desire to improve the game for everyone... they are to be applauded.... there are some out there who I just think get over it, it is what it is.... it might be helpful to play your hated character to gain a fuller understanding of that particular class, its strengths and weaknesses.

The scary bit... I hope Popcap has a team which can recognise the moaners from the folk with legitimate and full knowledge and act accordingly.

In the end we only have a certain amount of control over such things, and while it can be hugely frustrating as these changes occur and you have to adjust again,

it is, in the end, just a game and if you love it, want to continue to play it... well, just chill and enjoy 😃

This game will never be perfect. There's so many things wrong with it and it isn't just the nerf and buff.

That was hard to read for sure. 

I'm 48 so not far off your age but I can infer from your post OP that you aren't happy about some of the balance changes. They aren't perfect but there were too many balance issues; Frozen Citrons outsniping Cacti, Super Brainz beams crisscrossing the map at long range, etc. These needed to be dealt with and they're actually doing a good job overall. And some things like the changes made to Super Brainz's kick got fixed almost right away when it was changed recently. In a competitive game like this you're always going to have people crying for and against their favorite characters.

It's important to note that this isn't solely a GW problem, it's endemic to competitive shooters. Overwatch is still undergoing big changes, look at what happened to Mercy as a prime example. Paladins is constantly fixing things since they release champions far before they're really ready and any time you have characters with vastly different abilities in games like this there will be problems. 

GW2 isn't perfect but it's in a much better place than it was. 

Oh and on the microtransaction front; I have bought them all and used to buy coin packs but my friend that I often play with hasn't spent a dime outside of getting the deluxe edition and the only character I have that he doesn't is the Unicorn Chomper. He has less stickers in his book too of course but he's more patient than I am.
