The Game Should Have a "Mercy Buff" to Underdog Teams
Clearly, there is no MMR *1 in this game. Some games feel "one-sided" with enemies giving zero chance to your team. And you can't really do anything to carry the team alone. And what adds more salt to the injury is because of all that, your teammates start quitting one by one. The enemies have the number advantage while you all get slaughtered in agony with no hope. Fun fact to those who don't know, quitting mid-game takes away all the XP you gained for that character and you won't get your coins worth either. So you have to stay to suffer to get your rewards.
For that, I think that PopCap should implement a "Mercy System":
- There should be a threshold to when it should be activated. For example, if the enemy's average vanquish ratio is "too high" and there is 1 minute left, the "Mercy Buffs" starts activating for your team if it was Turf Takeover.
- In other modes such as Team Vanquish and Vanquish Confirmed.. If the enemy team got to 25 and your team have less than 10, then the Mercy Buffs should activate. It could be for 1 minute only or until they teach the enemy team's score. (I doubt the buffs would help the team, but it would be interesting to see what happens.)
- Other modes could have their own rules as well.
- The Mercy Buffs could vary (it could be one of these and not all):
- Showing all enemies' locations behind walls.
- All allies will have maxed overheal when they respawn.
- Increased weapon damage.
- This should "close the gap" between the 2 teams and lessen the frustrations that occur when the other side is just "too strong". (It happens a lot and the player just can't do anything about it.)
- Both factions' leaders would announce the buff. For example, Dr. Zomboss would go "You losers. I activated my Zasa Satellites. Now hunt those plants! You'll have to pay the bills later!!" or phrases along these lines.
*Disclaimer: All numbers mentioned in this post are for example purposes. 1 minute could be 1:30 or 2 minutes. 25 score could be 30.
