Sorry to hear that you're still struggling with battle chests.
As I have mentioned elsewhere, I found Town Centre plants chest 4 very challenging, so I am glad to hear that you got it 🙂

Why are the ai so strong, and we seem so weak.
Something I noticed about the AI in battle chests is that your team mates will play to your ability, so if you play poorly then they will too, whereas playing well will lift them up. Essentially your team reflect your skill level.
I don't know if that knowledge is helpful for winning, but once I realised this I stopped blaming my teammates when I lost. Except in PvP. In PvP if we lose it is always my team mates fault 😉
- 6 years ago@ippig Yes, I'm disappointed in myself. I honestly didn't think I was QUITE that bad!!!
- 6 years ago@ToastedSarnie I guess we're way too old for this game. Let the kids take our place instead :D

@jnicol1975I can't imagine that it works like this.I might be wrong (it’s been known to happen!)
What makes me think the AI adapt to your playing is my experience of Plants Town Centre chest 4. I noticed is that if I didn’t get a vanquish in the first few moments, the zombies would pull ahead by about 7 vanquishes almost immediately. However if I rushed to take down a couple of zombies straight out of the gate, my team would pull ahead, even though my 2 kills shouldn’t have been enough to close the gap.
It’s possible I’m seeing patterns that don’t exist, though...
I might run a test by playing a match as if I’m not there (Vanquish no one, don’t get vanquished) and see how my team performs by themselves. Then get, say, 10 vanquishes and see if my team steps up their performance too.
Probably not very scientific, but I’m curious to see what happens.

@jnicol1975It might supposed to work this way but the AI is even having a hard time to find its way through the map. It would be no surprise if a bug would be blocking that hidden mechanic.
- 6 years ago@ippig OK so I played that trophy several times. Here’s what I found:
On their own, with no intervention from me, the score will be about 30:50.
If I intentionally die 5 times without making any kills, the score will be about 20:50. The difference is the score line cannot be accounted for solely by me being vanquished, so it seems as if my team performs worse as a result of me playing poorly.
On the other hand, I couldn’t discern much improvement in my team’s best AI performers when I vanquished enemies. The best performer would tend to get between 8 and 11 vanquishes regardless of how well I played.
So I’m going to call my own myth busted, but I do think it’s significant that the AI seem to play badly when I do.
On the plus side, I have now beaten this chest 3 times ha ha!
- 6 years ago@jnicol1975 Would be interesting - glad you're volunteering, really don't fancy that one again! I do think the AI target you over your team AIs even if two of you are doing damage at the same time.
Btw, need tips! Can't remember which number chest it is, but the Gnome Bomb Mount Steep one - have won it, but can't for the life of me get the bonus objective of placing or disarming 3 bombs, though I never had a problem with this in GW2. Any strategies work particularly well for you all???- 6 years ago

Had a funny moment though when I was trying to let them kill me. I stood right in the middle of a group of 5 zombies, and they totally ignored me and concentrated fire on my team mates. I survived and the 5 zombies died!
