@AWMaxSterling I imagine that BfN will have one of the same issues that I noticed in GW2; a larger number of younger children playing because of the amusing and cartoony presentation.
So it's probably less that you're playing with dummies and more that you're in a match with a certain percentage of younger kids. The older ones of them can be pretty good and team focused but not all of them are- many will just mainly bumble around because the game looks inviting and those ones will likely not even grasp all the controls and abilities let alone the teamwork and tactical aspects of certain modes.
Getting populated by a certain percentage of players who are probably not quite old enough is something that happens when a game is designed in such a brightly-colored, whimsical fashion that it attracts the attention of a younger audience.
@realitysquared I completely agree that we all need to bear in mind that lots of children play these games and they won't necessarily have strategic know-how. However, while I rarely use game chat to speak myself, I've always had it on to listen to what's being said & I usually find the younger kids take the game a lot more seriously & in a very team-spirited manner. They may not know the best way of going about it, but the number of times I've heard "Don't worry, Sunflower - I'll protect you!" or "Oh no, they got you - I'm coming to save you!" I find endearing. It's the some of older kids & adults who ARE aware but prioritise their own kills/streaks over objectives & team-mates that I find irritating, but you'll find that anywhere! 😆
- @ToastedSarnie I've noticed the same. I have two young kids myself and my oldest plays PvZ pretty often (since GW2) and has always played really well and is quite the team player but my youngest (2 years younger) just likes to occasionally play as the Sunflower and is way more focused on just bumbling around solo trying to have fun being a Sunflower and only rarely winding up in actual PvP by accident where they are no help whatsoever.
I also agree that a bunch of players who are older pretty much forget to play the objective and just chase their own vanquish streaks and stats. In some play modes that's okay but in others the lack of team play seriously hurts your chances of victory.- @realitysquared Haha, bless! Yes, not a lot you can do about the streak-chasers, other than hope they're taking out some the key players in the process!
The balancing will get better by feedback. All games have this issue even years into it.. Looking at you Siege!! Anyways just support the game and I hope they keep giving us content and changes for the better lolenso far I think they have.
- @realitysquared I used to care more about the objectives in this game but I found out that there is no XP reward for winning the map. Standing on a capture point gives around 10 XP every 2 seconds? A vanquish gives 160+ XP.
When the team captures the point, the reward is gold? Only end objectives are worthwhile for the attacking team (I think it's 100 XP for the TV station map and battery).
So win or lose - no XP gained, no XP reward/bonus. If people are trying to level their characters, then it's all about vanquishes.
