@KnowsNoLimit Idk I think having people who have been grinding super hard to get Max rank on GW1 and then all of a sudden say "jk you can just max out on GW2" sounds like a good enough reason not to go back on their word...especially since Gary gave an early warning beforehand long before the UniChomp was announced that there would be a great reward to those who decide to hit Max rank in GW1.
I don't have a problem with the hero showcase though, if anything it gives people who were questioning wether he was worth it a chance to decide wether or not he is. By all means, make him a showcase. But it feels a pretty deceptive to go back on their word on this one...
I completely understand them wanting to please a lot of players and them giving players an entire year to earn UniChomp seems more than reasonable. But there's no way they'll be able to please everyone...
@MoonLiteWolf Thing is every stream I have watched their point of view on the Unicorn Chomper keep changing. It went from "no way, he was meant to be a loyalty reward to those who stuck with us and reached Rank 313" to "we are now thinking of other ways we can make the UC available".
This feels like the Aquafina and Cheeto's promotion characters all over again. People could only get them by buying their products and receiving a code to unlock the variant, but enough people complained and eventually it was given to everyone,
I honestly expect them to go back on the word on this one far sooner then the intended Feb 2017 cut off date. Which sort of makes sense because not everyone played GW1 or wants to it when GW2 is now released. However I would like them to take the most up most care when doing this and try to involve the rank 313 players in a poll with what they think would be cool to have for sticking by them and going the extra mile when they really didn't't have to.
@KnowsNoLimit I do remember them going back on their word for the Cheetos thing but to be fair that was a promotional item and a very hard one to obtain at that. Eventually those products wouldn't be available anymore and even so, there were many countries or even states who couldn't find them at their retailer anywhere. So it wasn't really fair from the start...
I do have faith that they will consider keeping their word and I'm sure it's something they've been talking about for awhile. I'm sure even UniChomp it's self was talked about for awhile before even being released as a loyalty reward. But it'll probably just end up being a majority vote thing... ☹️ i just hope they consider how important keeping their word really is...
They will lose their most loyal player base if they don't, if they haven't already.
@Zaheen1337 they aren't loyal at all if they are leaving for a silly reason of being late to the party for a reward...I'm certain they will reward loyal players of GW2 too but to say that people would just up and leave the community simply because they missed the boat on something, just seems disloyal to me.
You misunderstood slightly.
I mean, if they go back on their word and release Unicorn to everyone, they will upset and risk losing their loyal players.
You might then say they're not loyal for leaving, but that's your opinion. 🙂
@Zaheen1337 oh it appears i did misunderstand lol i thought you meant the people upset the GW2 only players about it. But yeah anyone who leaves because of this topic obviously wasn't that loyal from the start lol but I just meant they'd lose trust of some players. And trust is something that could greatly motivate a community
Exactly, like you if that trust is broken I'm not going to forget. I have no issue with anyone else getting it, heck I spent hours, days and weeks helping friends giving tips on how to get it. So if they plan on giving it away like hot cakes then, like you I won't be pleased.
Hero Showcase will allow players to max the character and earn that rank, but won't give them the character. I was hoping that we could distinguish between the two forever 🙂
Like you guys have said trust is invaluable, once broken it's nearly impossible to get it back.
This isn't a matter of who should we get what, it's a matter of principle.
Will the Unicorn Chomper be available some other way before the original 2017 cut off date?? most likely.
However be it as it may, you can still keep people's trust if you treat your loyal players with the utmost respect about it.
