Ways to Counter Steam Blaster for Every Plant

Here are some possible ways to counter Steam Blaster. Note that these won't work all of the time & this is assuming that you're going in without upgrades.

Peashooter - Your low health is compensated with evasiveness & agility. Luring him into Chili Bean Bomb, avoiding attacks with Pea Souped, or using Pea Gatling at a safe distance is obliged. Otherwise, try to actually aim as Peashooter does high damage with direct hits & can vanquish Scientist faster than Sticky Healy Thingy. Abuse splash when he Warps away.

Chomper - Possibly the best counter to the Steam Blaster; high health, Burrow outrunning Warp, & Grody Goop to Scientist's low health can really contest the thing. Like bean bomb, try to trap him into Spikeweed which can take 3/4's of his base health away & tank the damage when facing him close. Don't bother using Slobber Shot as he's too mobile to hit.

Kernel Corn - This is really hard since he lacks health but his best options are close-range. Using Cob Busters from a distance could be good, add on Butter Beacon for a damage boost & location. Husk Hop once Scientist runs out of Warps & Shuck Shot as a last resort.

Nightcap - DO NOT ATTACK HIM UP-CLOSE. YOU WILL DIE. Abuse her range & never bother Shadow Sneaking Away or using Fung-Fu because Warp exists. Trap him in Shadow Realm (I know it's not its real name) & Warp won't work properly. If you're stuck up-close to him, R.I.P.

Snapdragon - This is the complete opposite & I encourage you to get up-close. 175 health can tank Steam Blaster well. If they retreat, use Blazing Trail to block possible future attacks. Otherwise, try to lock your Blue Blazes onto him & Swoop Slam if they don't have Warp. Don't bother using Flare Ball & try to use your primary when possible.

Citron - long-range: Naval Laser; medium-range: Spin Dash (trust me it goes pretty far); close-range: E.M.Peach then primary. Don't use shield cause it can be penetrated & try to make the best outta your primary; it has insane DPS up-close & Steam Blaster is pointless against 200 HP. If he really gets you, retreat.

Cactus - If you're near him, your dead. If you're far from him, he's dead. If you rock with sniping, you'll have a field day. Your only to snipe twice to vanquish him (99 critical max, 8 normal first) & Garlic Drone is your best friend. Use Potato Mines like bean bomb & Spikeweed, & don't move when using Petal Propeller to escape; simply rise up & then move so it lasts longer.

Acorn & Oak - NEVER BE ACORN. EVEN AS A PASSENGER. You will die & better off tanking your very low health pool of just a measly 300 hit points. Super Sap Trap, log, finish. If Steamy boi runs away don't bother; you're too slow to catch up & rather regenerate health & recharge abilities.

Sunflower - Stick with your teammates. Like Pea Gatling, get somewhere safe & burn him. Continuously heal yourself & allies to sustain damage.

Rose - Try to get homing onto him & Jinx him as any plant that encounters him will deal extra damage. Goatify him when he only has two ways to go, & Arcane Enigma out when he gets you low.

Remember that these are just possible solutions; they're not meant to dismantle Steam Blasters when you do encounter them, but can really make them struggle to defeat you in these scenarios. Reply what you think would be better & what other methods are there to destroy this gas of evil.

I find that effective ways to counter Steam Blasters in general is with characters with insta-kill potential, homing attacks and area-of-effect attacks, also splash damage seems quite effective as well in most situations. Remember, Scientists have low health so use that to your advantage.

@TheSprinter85I have to agree. I don't die by Steam Blasters that much anymore. And I mean this for every character I play. If they kill me it is simply because they flanked me and I probably had 3/4 to 1/4 of health left. One of the best strats is to literally just shoot at him when you see him in your medium range to long range area. It will force him to use his Warps and healing, so he will be hindered slightly. At close range, do what Fork_x_Spoon posted. Steam Blaster is manageable to deal with.

  • Yup, that's pretty much my go-to strategy; make him waste his abilities, stay away from him, & get the vanquish! The only problem is when he runs to his team, in that case you're screwed.
