TANK IT LIKE A MAN.
5 dmg is actually pretty reasonable. I feel like its a general mistake to make an half assed attempt to remove or block him. fossilhead generally generates a pretty bard card value as it requires you to "sacrefice" a professional. While middlemanager already managed to get you a card to replace himself and because his cost is only one he is a reasonable choice for that. But in General its negative card value. The value fossilhead provides is oftentimes generated over time and more important over the course of the multiple plant defenders he kills while the block him.
I feel that a good strategy to defeat this deck is to ignore the single fossilhead as long as possible (if you cannot defeat it easily somehow) instead of jumping it desperately and develop the board around it. there are several simple reasons for that.
1. Going viral and other frenzy providers suck * if you cannot utilize the frenzy. which you cant if there are no plants blocking.
2. These decks are HEAVILY constructed around playing and defending the fossilhead. They usually do not have an aweful lot to offer on the remaining lanes.
3. You deny them to regain the card disadvantage they generated by investing into the fossilhead (by sacreficing a prof.).
4. Going wide is generally a better idear than going big.
what speaks against this?; its a pretty bold plan to try to go wide early on against an opponent with weedspray at their disposal.
But I play like this with citron a lot. Forget me nuts, pleurodon and Carrotops are really good at that.
