What exactly determines how much the Shield Meter builds from attacks?

What exactly determines how much an attack increases your opponent's Shield Meter? I haven't been able to notice any consistency other than that in general, lower damage attacks will build up the gauge faster. But is there some way to know exactly how much damage will trigger a shield versus go through to damage the hero?

There isn't anything which determines how much it builds by other than randomness 🙂

    Taken from this update:

To be clear: The overall system for Superpowers, Super-Blocks, and the Block Meter remains as is. Like before, a hit randomly charges 1, 2, or 3 sections of your Block Meter. When all 10 sections of your Block Meter are full, you get a Super-Block. The only change is that there is no longer a 5% chance to “Insta-Block” and fill the entire meter from a single hit. Removing Insta-Blocks slightly reduces the average number of Super-Blocks per game. We’ll keep an eye on that over time.

FYI; There has been another update to the blocking system since that was posted. There are now only eight segments in a shield, rather than ten.

  • That sounds like a good explanation for why so many think the game is rigged. Random only works when you develope a game that people trust. But your randomness doesn’t feel random it feels rigged. You shouls call this game “ law of averages versus rigged or bad luck. But you guys wouldn’t rig a game just to make more money... right? YEAH RIGHT!
