What is synergy?

We do not have synergy with bananas and cacti, nor mustache and party, correct? We may draw or conjure a banana (or mustache), but there seems to be nothing uniting them the way dancers and pets --- or roots and peas --- are synergized, right?

    almost all types have some sort of synergy in itself but very few can be played as a "tribal"(i.e. almost exclusively that type). Usually a tribe should have AT LEAST one or two lords. (a lord is a zombie/plant that does something for all zombies or plants of its type.)

    Plants:

    Mushrooms (Lords are Muscle Shroom and Punisher. They also have an evironment that counts as a shroom when played and a conjurer)

    Peas (They have Podfather which is a pretty strong lord but nothing more really)

    Beans (Admiral is a super strong as a lord and moonbean is a somewhat-lord they also have a conjurer, 3 Tricks and one environment with a bean tag)

    Nuts (Nuts have Mirror Nut and Peccanolid as Lords, a conjurer and a Legendary Tribal Trick. Sadly lacks some punch to be a standalone deck)

    Roots (Starchlord. YES. but as strong as starchlord is. He is pretty much the only synergized root card....hardly a tribe at this point)

    Flowers (Powerflower and Briar Rose are both pretty good as lords. Flowers have a Ton of cards at their disposal with a broad spectrum of different abilities. I guess Flowers are (tied with mushrooms) the best synergized tribal plants have)

    Berries (Berries have Berry Strong. Who is strong as a lord but not exactly enough for a full tribal deck around Berries I guess)

    Potentially:

    Bananas (yeah....i guess that could happen but I think not to be honest....)
    Corn (not much there yet but IF it becomes a thing. We have Major Corn and Cornucopia in it. also Corndog. Could be insane)
    Squash (There are already several squashes....maybe a lord for squashes and/or Melons and/or Gourds could work out here so these come together somehow)
    Cactus (yea....maybe at some point. but unlikely I guess. There just Isn´t enough design space for cacti)

    Leafy (okay this is my favourite....leafy has actually quite a lot of Cards scattered across and some of them are really really strong. A lord here could work wonders)

    Zombies:
    Pets (....catlady and Zookeeper. I think it Pets kind of lack diversity to be a top notch tribe...Pet decks are just to easy countered and to predictable at this point)
    Gargantuar (most gargantuars are actually lords for other gargantuars. but they are expensive and probably not worth playing just for the synergy)
    Science (arguably the strongest tribal zombies have Several good tricks and lords)
    Imps (Imps also have some lords and options to cycle themselves. pretty annoying and often times very good)

    Sport (I guess Sports is a pretty good tribal. Mascot and coach are pretty good stuff and things like Backline end and Gladiator make up for good decks.)

    Dance (Flamenco Zombie and Aerobic Instructor are okay I guess but Dance has some very good non-lords such as Disco-tron or Binary stars available)

    Potentially:

    Gourmet (We actually have quite a lot of playable gourmet cards by now. just no lord that makes them worth to center around)

    Professional (I don´t think thats going to happen because the professional cards are just too different. But maybe)
    History (I guess we can assume that we get a ton of new cards in this category in the next expansion. I wouldn´t be surprised if there is a lord coming up then)
    Mustache (Unlikely but who knows?)

    If I'm not mistaken, synergy would be like zookeeper or podfather or that stupid yelping root...basically those cards that feed others that are similar.

    I wouldn't be surprised if we see moustache or professional bonus buffers in an expansion but don't quote me on that I don't know anything about upcoming season only thing I heard was pre-history and I don't know if the present history cards will benefit...sorry for the rambling on...

    How is Power Flower a lord?

    How are there design restrictions on cactus?

    You must work somewhere interesting which you cannot share. )

    Power Flower heals you 1 for each other flower. I'd say that fits the category as much as any other "lord".

    unlike flowers, berries, mushrooms aso. cacti somewhat lack interesting visuals that might help to differentiate them easily. They all look somewhat the same. Imagine you had to draw 10 different cacti. it has to be clear its a cactus ("oh. I haven´t seen this card before but it is definetly a cactus!") and yet they have to be different (Its a cactus...but which one?). This might work for 5 or 6 but beyond that this will probably become quite a tricky task.

    On top of that you have to find a unique type of playstyle for that that suits guardian and come up with enough effects for single cards and lords to fit that without it becoming boring and repetetive. making 10 galacti cacti in different forms and having a lord giving all cacti the effect of galacti cacti is not really what you want for a tribal (although it would be not to terrible)

    The problem with the visuals btw fits a lot of the other "potential" and some of the existing tribes as well. For example; how many different bananas can you draw and whats their overall playstyle? Why is trapper-zombie/Turkey rider not a history-type? Why is biodome botanist not a professional? Why is soulpatch a flower..and a root....and leafy? *why is bad moon rising brainy?" (no thread without this) When I was new to the game I thought shieldcrusher Viking was a Gargantuar and Cpt. Deadbarrel was an Imp. They just look like that.

    The "uniqueness of a tribe" is also very much a problem for all existing tribes. It would be EASY to make a hundred more flowers and probably find decent effects for them. and yet flowers would feel very all over the place afterwards.

  • I appreciate your thoughtfulness. I think the artists working for heroes are inventive enough to come up with 100 cacti. It's not just about plant design, it's about humor.  Also, the designers make up the rules. A cactus could have corn, thorns or horns.
