I have a few ideas to bat around:
- Poison Oak: A toxic variant of Torchwood. The name is such an obvious one, it has to exist! It would use toxic breath instead of fire and instead of smoldering madness would use venomous madness to a similar effect. Green toxic effect replacing the fire effect.
- Ice Pirate: There was a cheesy 80s sci fi movie of this name so we have to have a deadbeard variant to match. A bit too obvious of a variant but the name makes it work. Icy beard and mustache, overall frozen look.
- Frozen Corn: Just look at the freezer aisle in a grocery store to see why this variant should exist. Again the obvious variant but since its an actual thing, I feel we need it as well.
- Fire Citron (Tomato?): With a short ranged flamethrower weapon to fit the close assault they want him to be now, it would be a perfect variant as it would be unable to shoot long range at all, or alternatively, it could do so by zooming in much like Super Brainz does but it would use more ammo to shoot a small fireball at longer range. Kind of like Fernando in Paladins if you’ve ever played that game. Bright red appearance.
- Scapegoat: Due to its name it would have an ability where when vanquished it revives nearby teammates instantly. Not ALL of them as it would be too good but perhaps up to 2 or 3 fallen teammates nearby would be immediately revived. Obviously this would need to be carefully tested for balance but I like the basic idea. Wouldn’t look as ‘cool’ as the basic hovergoat since it’s a literal scapegoat! Probably not have the hoverboard or it wouldn’t look as nice, like a used or rundown version.
- Future Soldier: Uses a ray gun that discharges electricity. Looks like an alien invader or something super future appearing to fit.
- Climate Scientist: A frost variant of the zombie scientist. Uses a penguin as a weapon or a backpack or a hat! Wears furs.
- Bowling Star: I really want to shoot bowling balls out of a cannon! Would fire slower than a typical all star but would hit hard and the balls would roll around causing collateral damage. Each hit of the rolling ball would lose speed and cause less damage till it stopped and despawned. His one shoe would be one of those green/red bowling alley shoes!
- Alpine Goat: no hover board but can jump high and can jump up walls that are vertical or almost vertical. Would be slower on its feet than the base hovergoat.
- Sorceress Rose: A lightning variant. Lightning bolts are a common magic ability so fits perfectly to my eyes. She would have the pale blue and crackling lightning texture, her wand would like a lightning rod.
- Super Brainz: Let’s face it there are so many super heroes out there that fire and ice variants are extremely obvious.
- Imps: Due to the mechs Imps have so many possibilities! Maybe a tunneling mech, like a sub-terrene (the land version of a submarine). A spider mech that could climb walls and use webs, etc.
I don’t have any more specific variants and I’d like to see more of the unusual variants over the typical let’s give this class a frost variant (despite my list above), but we need more Torchwood and Hovergoat variants and more variants of the new classes. I also want more classes that lack the variants to get them, especially assuming they keep a similar quest structure in GW3 to give us more options. When we have the epic: “Get 500 vanquishes with the primary weapon as any electric zombie” I’d like to have more options than we have now. Also I wouldn’t mind frozen and toxic sunflowers!
As far as new classes while I wouldn’t say no to them, we already have so much overlap between them now with the new classes added in GW2 I don’t feel we need more. I thought of things such as a zombie bomber (explosive gravestones or something), zombie jester (ala PvZ2 on my phone), entangling plants, mushroom character that fires mushroom missiles at the zombies, and etc.
- 8 years ago@Iron_Guard8 Bravo good sir or ma’am or letters. If there was ever a post a developer would happen to see and act on, I personally hope it’s your variant ideas. Well thought out functionality, opportunity for some sick character design, and fits both function and form. I am just tickled over here.
- Anonymous8 years agoDear Iron Guard 8,
Thank you for taking the time to give me a detailed view into your ideas. I hope someday one of these variants gets to make a grand arrival to GW3. What do you think about them changing all the characters abilities as I heard that's a possibility.- 8 years ago@Nightpunisher1 Hey bud, check your message box.
