What Unicorn Chomper has caused (please read)

Listen! Before you comment, read. Also, this is my opinion.

Unicorn Chomper, if you don't know what it is, is the reward for reaching Rank 313 in PvZGW1. I was never notified that if I reached Rank 313 that there was going to be a guy that you get in the new game, they should have put a game announcement that says "Make sure to reach 313! There will be a good reward!". Mostly since the game came out a lot of people are complaining about it.

For People Who Have It

For people who have the chomper, they themselves are not satisfied with it. It is not very good for reaching a high rank in the previous game. The thing is though, if they buff the chomper, then their basically giving someone something really really good for being good at an 3 year old game. That's kind of like saying if you got all the guns in COD: Black Ops I, then you get them all in COD: Black Ops III. You should be rewarded something special for being good at the current game. Maybe there's a 313 that in PvZGW1 he would get 35 kills a round, and then in the new game he only gets about 6 kills.

For People Who Don't Have It

People that do not have the legendary chomper now have to go back because if they don't... that missing spot will haunt you, it's just there.. and after February 2017, you can't fill in that spot. It's just there. Imagine your a Youtuber, you open a pack and get that final character sticker "Well guys, we've unlocked all of the characters in PvZGW2!! I'm so excited! Let's go check it out!". So you look for the character who you just got and your talking to your viewers about all the guys "...I might even do a giveaway! Oh here it is..." then you notice that empty spot and drop your controller, you don't have that Chomper! And guess what? You can never get that chomper! You didn't just get everything in the game! Your going to miss that thing forever! Even if they took out the spot, every time I see that thing I moan. Now I have to spend 4 months on an outdated game!

The Solutions (1 = Best, 3 = Least Preferable)

1. Removing the Chomper from the game

EA can still do this before everybody goes back and get's to 313. It's really just a pain and causes arguments and detracts attention from your new game.

2. Making it obtainable

Make it like a really really really rare character, but at least obtainable in some sort of fashion.

3. DLC

Maybe you could do something like for a month you can buy the unicorn chomper (please put an in-game notification)? EA, I would pay $20 for that thing

No one said you will never have the Unicorn Chomper. It's pretty obvious after Feb 2017 pop cap are going to let you unlock him some other way.

You have plenty of time to get him. It took me 2 months of grinding to get him and that wasn't playing every day either. Play smart and skip challenges that only needed to be skipped.

On the Plants side you want to play as a Sunflower and heal every Plant you see. On the Zombie side you want to play as the Engineer and build the teleporter and all 3 turrets for amazing coins.

Removing the Chomper from the game would * off alot of people including myself who put the time in instead of complaining and actually unlocked him in the most efficient way possible.

No offense, but your post comes off as being incredibly salty with anyone who actually unlocked the Chomper. I like that not everyone has him atm, makes him feel more special and just shows how self entitled people are these days.

If you want the Chomper bad enough then you will earn him like the rest of us had to. Otherwise wait a year or if he appears on the Hero showcase sometime.

Eh they will probably do idea 2 to get him, just insanely rare pieces. I dont care that much on wanting unicorn chomper but if popcap did make him obtainable it would be nice? Eh i dont know... this does kinda feel like the cheetos event in pvz gw1 where everyone complained and eventually popcap just gave everyone the characters.

I agree with you. I never understood the logic behind encouraging players of your new game to go back to your old (wouldn't you want as many pvz fans playing the new game as possible?). And for new pvz fans playing the series for the first time? They'd have to buy the old game for just one character. I think it should be given the same treatment as the non-party legendary characters; make it obtainable in the new game but incredibly rare/grindy to get.

But I also think dedicated players of the first game should get recognition. This could be solved by making the 313 unicorn chomper slightly/ cosmetically different from the chomper the rest of us would earn from sticker packs. That way those who were able to get to 313 and get the chomper that way would have a way of being recognized apart from the new players getting the chomper

There is no way to give people who maxed rank on gw1 something special on gw2 without everyone complaining "Why dont i get this?" Or "Its unfair", etc etc.... honestly im a little sick with people complaining about it and it just needs to please stop. This is like the cheetos characters from gw1 where people were disappointed because couldn't get a code. Maybe popcap should just give everyone a code for a free download of pvzgw1 or something and let them start grinding to rank 313 so they stop complaining.

The unicorn chomper is not even good...

Most other chompers are better and still alot of people complain. The only people who should complain is people who has maxed out every character and is missing the unicorn chomper.

aside from one random forum post here i haven't seen any say they weren't satisfied with the unicorn chomper itself. if anything people aren't satisfied with the chomper because compared to all the other classes he is very underpowered and needs improvements.

Only thing special about the unicorn chomper is that it has a warp ability so aside from that he's the exact same as the basic chomper. unless you really want that warp or just like how he looks and want to have him for that reason then go for it. I don't see why people are making it a big deal for over a cool looking character for players that were very dedicated to the first game

The UniChomper was not released so players could max their rank in GW2 or fill in a space in the treehouse. Your argument that you didn't get the announcement or wasn't notified prior is invalid because the people who earned it first didn't know they were getting something to begin with. POPCAP graciously granted everyone another year to get the Chomper we earned, in which I have no problems with. I think if you were truly loyal to the game, you would do it without any complaints as I did before the chomper was even an item or with expectations. We cannot allow this gesture and acknowledgement from POPCAP to be turned into some novelty item to be released as DLC or so someone can fill a space.

People who reached 313 prior to the announcement see the real value in the Chomper and NEVER look at it that way. Its not about maxing your rank in GW2, filling a space or having some OP variant. It is this kind of thinking that makes the Chomper lose its true value.

I for one enjoy the warp ability and the options it provides. Besides, the game has only been out a month. There will be many patches and updates down the road. The Chomper will get stronger as time progresses, as I'm sure they all will. They may even make the warp available to all the Chompers for players who have the UniChomper, just like the Cheesy Goop wasn't available just to the Chester Chomper. Can you imagine an armor chomper or hot rod chomper that can warp? I bet you players would go back to GW1 in droves if that happened to max their rank and unlock the ability. Just a thought. Don't get scared.

For the people who don't already have it, there is still time for you to max your rank in GW1 and get him the way everyone else did. Good luck.

It doesn't matter that Unicorn chomper bad or good, even if i never play as him, i want to have it open, but i don't want to go back to GW1! I enjoyed alot GW1 but it time has passed, i don't want to WASTE time trying to level up, and it makes me completely stop playing GW2, because i don't have to play both games.
Garden warfare 1 had same problem with Chester Characters. They was awailable only america(Or maybe some other countries, i don't remember), thankfully after anger grows, all players got those characters. I really hoping PopCap give that character to everyone, by DLC.

You guys treat the UniChomper like some coffee mug or novelty item and will never fully appreciate it even if its released to you. It saddens me that the devs have granted players like yourself another opportunity to earn it and you see it as wasting time. A slap in the face of the players who maxed their rank before there was a reward for doing so.
