I can't start the game without a monthly subscription, it just goes in a loop asking me to take out a monthly subscription.
What should I do?

Because the game is online only you'd need a Playstation Plus account to be able to play. Without Playstation Plus it's not possible to play.

Ok thanks for the confirmation, I'll take it back to the shop and get a refund.
I think it should be made clear on the packaging that it is an online game and requires a subscription to be able to play anything, as on the game I bought it says that a subscription is required for multiplayer mode only.
