10 years agoXbox overheating!!!
Was just lagged out of a match and noticed my Xbox one fans on FULL blast. Sucker was HOT to the touch, damn near burnt my hand. Anyone have this happen yet? I hope it was just a fluke. *edit: happen...
Here is Xbox's page on overheating:

As for MTC's suggestion for an aftermarket cooler.. in my tests with PS3 (fat and slim) with a few different models of coolers (all were the exhaust type, I don't think they made intake coolers during this gen).. the results weren't good stock. They actually made the temps worse as they came out of the box. After a lot of Dremel work, they still didn't perform very well as the fans were very small, didn't rotate fast enough to move enough air and were loud as heck probably because they used the cheapest fan bearings on the market. I used internal temp monitor leads and an infrared temp gun while I was playing with these back in last gen era.
I can't speak for current gen aftercoolers.. but depending on the design, I'd be hesitant if they were worth it.
For my PS3s I used a fan controller for the internal fan and gutted virtually everything that looked like it would impede airflow. The difference afterwards was night and day.. but you wouldn't ever know without something to monitor it. Another one I cut circular fan shaped grills in the bottom and sat it on a laptop cooler that matched the holes I cut.
DO NOT make internal modifications to your Xbox One if you value your warranty!!!!
I just wanted to point out that those AfterCoolers.... might not be all they are advertised. I believe there was even a class action lawsuit about them (Nyko X360 I believe).

I have been monitoring it since the initial over heat and haven't had it happen again. I have owned my Xbox one since December of last year, playing a multitude of games, including some with more demanding graphics and processing power. However, I'm starting to think this is a fluke since only one person has indicated the same problem and because it has not happened again. Sorry for the double post into general, I was trying to catch as many eyes as I could. Ill update this post If it happens again.
@JamesRivera88 - thanks for coming back with the update - it's good to know it's not a permanent thing.
I know myself owning most of the current gen consoles, plus many other devices that sometimes they will get hot for what seems like an unknown reason - it always puzzles me 🙂
As long as it's not a permanent thing you should be okay but if it does start happening regularly make sure to get it checked out as you don't want permanent damage happening.
Cheers,
