Zombies vs Zombies Gametype? / Vanquish+*Domination/KOTH*

Can we get a ZvZ playlist? I'm sure some will hate on the idea but I've discussed this with a few buddies and we think it would attract a decent amount of players. Obviously there wouldn't be any Gardens, so we would play Vanquish by default.

So, building on my earlier idea I suggest implementing a King of The Hill or Domination-type game mode, either in a mixed bag with Vanquish or by itself, to add more replay value into Zombies vs Zombies. I get that we don't want all of our players to be split into many different playlists, but for some of my friends it would be a selling point, a "killer app" of sorts.

I know there would have to be some cosmetic changes to Team 2 of Zombies (grayscale, glowing etc.). I think abilities and character variants should be allowed (teammate confusion is likely, so we can skip visual character customization to make things easier).

What do you guys think? Any and all input is welcome.

  • This isn't CoD or BF4 where you have the population. It's an arcade title with lower total population. Having more playlists does not make sense from a player pool perspective. If you have 1000 total players divided equally amongst 3 main playlists ( Team Vanquish variants/Gardens & Graveyards variants/Gnome Bomb ), that's about 333 players in each. Add 1 more playlist, and that's 250 each. That means less variety in whom you face.

I've already got over 100 players blocked because they farm kills in G&G instead of going for the objective. The last thing I want to do is run into them more frequently.

    Also, this thread already exists...

I saw the other thread, I didn't like his ideas and chose to create a new topic. And how many people play this game on xboxone? 360? I really don't know the numbers. I read on other posts people are talking about how they just got the game last week, are planning on buying it digitally etc. It's on sale for Gold members too. I think that our players will increase in number and additional playlists wouldn't deter diehards and tryhards. People will play what they want; additional playlists isn't going to distract anyone or send people elsewhere, if anything it will attract and keep more players

  • At 25% off, about the only people that will buy this are the ones that may have been on the fence about it. It requires a Gold membership and has no single player mode... which is another thing that will turn off adults from buying the game. I've also heard that game is too "cartoony" for some people (I'm obviously not one that thinks that.)

The only place I was able to find legit numbers on unique users was Major Nelson's blog and he no longer lists that anymore... so there is no telling how many are playing. I jump ship after every game, so I get into numerous lobbies and I run into the same players frequently. That and I'm frequently in games that aren't full anymore. Therefore the population can't be that large.

Take a look at Halo Reach and Halo 4. They had a lot of different game types and had to group them up in playlists just to keep population pools high enough to keep players happy. That in turn got people mad because they were put in games they hate, just for the chance to get games they preferred. That in turn made them quit because they couldn't get enough people to start games... and then killed off numerous playlists.

As I said in the other thread... increase end score in Vanquish game types and add more maps with unique final objectives in G&G... and they'll keep the people that love those gametypes happy. Gnome Bomb is already pretty much dead.

As for the other thread, whether you liked his ideas or not, the thread title was "More Game Modes", which is exactly what your thread is about.

Halo has private matches. I would host a ZvZ rather than fiddle with public lobbies.  Halo is a very competive franchise. Each team has an equal and fair matchup. With this game what you get is plants on one side, zombies on the other, every time! It isn't competitive. It isn't even generally a 1:1 matchup because each team is completely different.

You said yourself that you quit after each match to join other lobbies. That ruins the integrity of the game! The other players don't know that you plan on enjoying more PvZ action. I assume when people quit that they aren't amused by this game! In turn, I leave the lobby, not amused by the community nor lack of competition!! That's not to say that the game doesn't get hype. It does. If only more plants would get in the hill when its being captured though...

But I digress. I have faith that adding ZvZ would further the growth of this game. I do love G&G but I'm getting rather bored after three or four matches, and I'd hate to be "that wack guy who's always on Zombies." It just isn't fun anymore demolishing plants. I don't get much excitement anymore. No hype at all. I used to feel OP running peashooter, now I feel like a tank using any zombie. I just want a level playing field using Zombies.
