Q: What is Table Chat?
A: Multiplayer games allow you to play directly with other players. Table Chat is a dedicated chat room just for the people who you are actively playing with at the moment. You can think of multiplayer games as sitting down at a table to play with some other people, and Table Chat is how you can talk with them. Many multiplayer games already have a similar chat feature, but we’ll be updating them to integrate this new version of Table Chat alongside the existing Game Chat. This lets you do all your chatting in one place, and makes it easy to add the people you’re playing with as Pogo friends.
Q: How do I join Table Chat?
A: Each multiplayer game will be a little different but in general the steps will be:
- Start or join a multiplayer game with other people (not a robot game).
- Open the chat bar by clicking on the chat button in the bottom-right corner.
- Inside the chat bar, multiplayer games now have two tabs: Game Chat and Table Chat. Make sure you are on the Table Chat tab and you will be able to chat with the other players in your game.
Q: What is the difference between Game Chat and Table Chat?
A: The main difference is who is in the room. With Game Chat you can choose a room to join and chat with everyone else who has chosen that room. With Table Chat you first have to start playing the game with other people and then you will be automatically placed into a special room with just those players. Because of this, Table Chat is only available on multiplayer games.
Q: Where can I find Table Chat in the new Pogo experience?
A: The new Table Chat can be found in Spades HD, and replaces the old in-game chat feature. It can be accessed the same way you access Game Chat – by clicking the Chat icon in the bottom-right corner of the screen. Please note: Table Chat won’t be visible until opened. When you open the Chat Menu, it will default to Table Chat.
Table Chat will be rolling out to all of our multiplayer games in the future.
Q: Is Table Chat available to everyone on Pogo?
A: All players with a Pogo or Club Pogo account have access to Table Chat. Make sure you’re signed in to use it. Need an account? Register for free or join Club Pogo!
Q: What features are included in this version of Table Chat?
A: The new Table Chat has all the same features as Game Chat. That means you can do things like add Pogo friends or view player profiles.
Q: Will I be able to use Table Chat and Game Chat at the same time?
A: Yes, Table Chat and Game Chat are completely independent so you can be in one Table Chat room and one Game Chat room at the same time. However, you can only view the messages of one room at a time.
Q: How can I report a problem player in Table Chat?
A: This works the same way it does in Game Chat. If someone is being disruptive in chat, just click on the player’s avatar to view their Player Card. From there you can click on the “Report” button. This will also automatically block the player so that you won’t see messages from that player anymore.
Q: Is Game Chat available on mobile?
A: Chat is currently only available on desktops and laptops. We'll be introducing support for other devices in future updates.
Q: How does the chat filter work?
A: The chat filter works automatically in all chat conversations and cannot be turned off. When the filter catches a profane word, the message appears to other players with asterisks. Please note that we are fine-tuning the current filter, as it is censoring some inoffensive words. We want to provide a safe, pleasant and comfortable environment for everyone.
Should you experience any issues, could you please provide the following:
- Step by step details on the issue you are experiencing (remember, the more details the better!)
- The browser you using when this issue occurs
We'd also like to hear your feedback! So, please let us know what you think about Spades HD Table Chat. 🙂
Thank you very much!
