How to not lose at Solitaire?

I feel like every time I play Solitaire, I end up stuck with no moves left. I try to think ahead, but somehow the game still traps me near the end.

Is there a real strategy to winning more consistently, or is it mostly luck? What are the biggest mistakes beginners make?

I’d love some simple tips that can actually help improve my win rate instead of restarting over and over again 😅

Try to focus on moves that flip over hidden cards first — it gives you more options and helps you avoid getting stuck later. And don’t rush cards to the top piles. Only clear a column if you’ve got a King ready to slide into that empty spot.

Totally get you 😄 — Solitaire is still my ultimate chill game after all these years. It helps me switch my brain into meditation mode haha.

I’ve seen most experts say the best first move is either:

    • Move an Ace or Deuce to the foundation immediately, or
    • Focus on uncovering hidden cards from the largest tableau pile.

But in actual gameplay, I’ve noticed it’s not always that simple.

Sometimes moving an Ace too quickly blocks future moves. Other times, uncovering a hidden card early completely changes the game. It feels more situational than “one rule fits all.”

So I’m curious — what do you usually prioritize in your first few moves?

Foundation first, or uncovering hidden cards?
