Season passes etc

I bought the pass in Garden Blast and it wouldn't activate even though it took my gems.  Now today there are passes for Solitary Home and the new Star Pogo Challenge (not sure what it's really called).  I'm afraid to spend Gems and not get them.  Has anyone tried to buy them yet?
