I am also a 9+ year level 99, with a significant amount of time invested but minimal money spent. I also "started over" by creating two additional new cities -- currently a 45 and a 73. The introduction of Mass Transit prompted me to back off on the 73. The introduction of Services 2.0 may make playing the 45 too painful to continue. As a result, I might quit playing the game altogether, too.
Well... the updates finally hit my city, creating the need for service upgrades, unhappy Sims, and abandoned buildings that need renovation. Things they promised would come later.
To make matters worse, it introduced a significant bug. My depot is full of land-expansion items intended for purchase by a club member. Unfortunately, nobody in the club can see them. They can see other items in my depot, but they cannot see the land-expansion items. The timing couldn't be worse since we just started a lightning war (and the depot is full, so I cannot sell things to make room or help others during the war).
This is, by far, the worst update to the game in the 9+ years I have been playing.
- The user experience is worse. Isn't the user experience team focused on improving UX?
- The newly introduced behaviors are poorly conceived and executed. Aren't the product managers players validating that changes improve the game experience? Increase net promoter scores that attract new players? And increase revenue?
- The testing was inadequate, resulting in the release of game-stopping bugs. Isn't QA smart enough to thoroughly test all aspects of the changes before signing off that the release is defect and bug-free?
- Shouldn't the delivery/operations team be monitoring the release progress? And considering rolling it back when they realize it isn't ready?
- Where are the marketing and customer support teams when you need them? The marketing team seems to put stuff out there without monitoring reactions/feedback. Aren't they measured on NPS? Apple/Google/other store ratings? I have already given this game a 1-star rating on Google Play (3 times) and wish there were an option for zero stars.
The SimCity BuildIt team should be embarrassed and ashamed right now because this is a serious SNAFU.
