Advertisements Change Mute/Volume Settings on iPad

Some advertisements change the mute/volume settings on my iPad (6th generation). My game settings are on mute. I also have my iPad settings on do not disturb and have my volume down to mute and yet some, not all, advertisements will unmute my volume and play sound at half the maximum volume. I’ve contacted Apple support and have gone through all my settings with them. They tell me that there should be no sound coming from any sources unless I explicitly make the changes myself. I’m perplexed and rather mad about this especially when it happens when I am playing late at night and it wakes up my wife. Does anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions to correct this?

  • Have you just turned the volume down or actually went to the tools in right hand corner and turned the sound and music to off? The music and sound buttons are left top of the screen after clicking the tools.

Thank you for taking the time to chime in. I have turned the volume down to mute on my iPad and turned off both of the game sounds. They have been off since I started playing the game almost two years ago. I also have my iPad set to do not disturb. The sounds only comes on for some advertisements. I’ve have submitted screen shots of the advertisements to EA and they are looking into it. Hopefully they will find a solution. This only happens on my iPad and not my Google Pixel 2 phone.

  • @RioValley  your i phone operates similar to android system in way of accepting cookies. therefore you allowed your device to accept those 3rd party cookies and that is how you gave them permission to change settings on your device. go to your settings, certificates and remove the ads certificates or block them through your firewall.  your apple i phone tech dept can help on that.  i don't have an i phone but am sure it has firewall cause your device is not cheap like an android phone. hope that helps.

  • you are welcome. i am not admin nor mod here but i used to work help desk at other website.

I appreciate your input. I called Apple support and the Rep I spoke with was not versed on the iPad. I will call again if I can't figure out how to fix the problem after your advice. I will let you know how it goes.

    Thanks again. ☺️
