@GrumpyBedlam Thank you for sharing your frustration—I completely understand where you’re coming from, and I share your observations. We both care deeply about this game, and it’s clear that it’s becoming increasingly commercialized. I, too, feel overwhelmed by the flood of commercial offers every time I open the game in the morning. In fact, having made a few purchases myself, I’ve noticed it only seems to worsen the problem.
That said, I can also understand that introducing new, seasonal buildings and features (like the Space theme) is EA’s way of attracting new players, which inevitably comes with costs.
If I may play devil’s advocate for a moment 😈—while many of the seasonal buildings are locked behind the premium tier of the Mayor’s Pass, most other buildings are still accessible through golden or platinum keys, or even just Simoleons. Personally, I gave up on trying to “have it all” a long time ago. As long as my Capital City and Regions each feature a few unique and special buildings, I can still craft beautiful cities using the standard offerings.
My advice? Don’t let the developers’ offerings drive you crazy. Stay cool, focus on what you enjoy about the game, and remember that its core hasn’t changed at all.
- GrumpyBedlam1 year agoSeasoned Ace@Valdonega26 I don't think Space is meant to attract new users, it's just another way to extract money from the existing ones.
I don't know if you have seen them but initially my Capital's happiness level dropped to 99% - not because of roads needing upgrades etc.
My residents were asking for Space, there was an orangey symbol floating above a house and it would not go away until that particular house was covered by Space, in other words I was forced to get them something from the Space specialisation.
Before long, some other house wanted it too lol
Then the offers started flying, ridiculous prices for stuff I don't particularly want or have the space for - pardon the pun 😉- Valdonega261 year agoSeasoned Vanguard
@GrumpyBedlam Really? Yikes, that is bad! They cannot force people to overhaul existing city designs that yielded 100% happiness prior to the introduction of Space. Sorry to hear that!
- GrumpyBedlam1 year agoSeasoned Ace@Valdonega26 I've seen it happen for landmarks and other specialist buildings both in my capital and regions as well.
It can be a bit of a pain sometimes 🤣
