The railroad was a ridiculous, poorly thought out and prematurely launched upgrade.
Railroad items cannot be manufactured. There are limited quantities of railroad items on the railroad store... A store that only refreshes every 15 hours. You can launch one train and obtain 40 train tokens every 2.5 hours. I have 3 station but the 2.5 hour timer effects all of them. The cheapest item (bolts) starts at 80/EA but increases in price till you purchase the max of 5. The other 2 items (hats and lanterns) are more expensive.
Railway items pervade every aspect of the game: war repairs, vu repairs, residential upgrades, residential design challenge upgrades, regional deliveries, airport deliveries, war deliveries. The store does not even sell enough to meet game demand and there is absolutely no way to buy the small amount supplied without spending real money.
There are also railway assignments and milestones. To launch 7 trains for 3000 pts assignment I have to lose a whole day of completing other assignments for contest of mayors but still log into the game every 2.5 hours. Milestone to send passengers on a train started at 200 for the first level.
The middle/upper management idiot who forced this premature launch, as well as the changes to Mayors pass, over the likely objections of game developers, should be fired.
