Can you play offline?

I'm looking for a game to take on the ipad when I go traveling with my nephew (14). My friends and I loved SimCity when I was his age. Do you need to be connected to wifi to play or save your city?

    I believe there is an off-line mode in the game. I personally have not tried it

    Hi, 

    Yes there is an offline mode.  

    It's good cause you can pretty much do the normal building and shipment tasks.  

    You can't do the contest of mayors or access any of the trade shops though, but not essential to gaming.

    Definitely still playable.
