This is getting silly now.
I was on it as soon as it started, have completed three challenges and have 3,215 points, The leader has 42,535! How is this even possible?

I agree that there's some cheating/hacking involved when front runners are leading by that wide a margin right off the bat.

This! Some people spend an insane amount of money on games. It just happens that one of those are playing in your current league. But remember that it is not how fast you do the missions that are important, it is your final scoore that is all that matters.
Three missions and only 3215 points is very low. You should aim for an average of at least 2000 points per mission to have any chance of getting the top prices. That does not mean that every mission you do must be 2k+, I do several missions each round that are lower just because they are fast but I try to never do a mission that is lower than 1500
