This design challenge option, I really don't get the purpose of it other than another way of trying to extract real cash from players.
Far east challenge as an example. Someone might not have Limestone Cliffs region and may think right, I've got to buy landscape items i.e. bamboo, shi, etc to compete in this. Oh haven't got enough currency or simcash, better top up. Then find that putting a load of toil and effort into it returns a vote of 2 or 3 stars and the winning one bears no resemblance to the brief. Farcical.
And as others have said, why has this appeared in CoM tasks when there are time constraints, utterly ridiculous.
Rather than developing new entertainment or landscape or transport items they come up with this rubbish which is just regurgitating stuff which appears in the Capital and all the regions as there's not enough variety. Same is happening with the mayor's pass. I normally subscribe, but not this season, it is woeful.
This is what I entered. Not the best and only spent a day on it, but only got 3 stars. Given all the other drivel people are reporting, surely better than 'just better than average'???
I don't see this as a money grabbing exercise but as a level 99 city having played for several years, I have a lot of stuff to choose from. I agree with the previous post that it is a pain to go round your capital and regions to collect it all only to put back when done.

Design challenge: great concept, problems in execution.
1. Overlap with CoM which others have already covered.
2. Removing specialization buildings from existing areas, building a new area temporarily, then reconstructing the original areas later is too much effort. Either we need blueprints such that we can save and reload, or perhaps design challenges could access everything we own regardless of current use.
3. New content doesn’t make up for failed older content. Hackers ruin the game in general. Until that issue is resolved I can’t be bothered much with more Simcity or spending.
I’ll be submitting variants of the attached every time. It scored 2.5, which for 20 mins effort and a chuckle is fine.

2.5 means no one liked your design compared to the other in the pair.
The minimum score is 2.5. Maximum 5.
Does this mean there were 5 impressions? After all, there are no ratings of 2.6 or 3.2? )) Or does 2.5 points mean that no one has seen the design at all?I have submitted 1 design, but I can rate 5 pairs of others up to 3 times. That is 10, 20 or 30 designs. Not bad. (But the choice of two options destroys the very meaning ..).
The actual number of views from the unique design is unknown. Let it be at least 5.
Then:
Rating = 5 x (the sum of all grades) / (number of grades)
*(grade = 0.5 or 1)Examples for 10 views:
5 x (0.5 + 0.5 + 1 + 1 + 1 +1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1) / 10 = 4.5
5 x (0.5 + 1+ 1 + 1 + 1 +1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1) / 10 = 4.75
