Turtle tokens are 1/3 per day. Llama tokens are 1/6 per day. Cheetah tokens are 1/9 per day.
How many epic points are earned depends on what building the request is coming from. It doesn't matter what items are required. For instance, in the landmark category, a Department of Culture task always earns 1 point, but a Statue of Liberty task always earns 3 points. This is true even if the tasks are exactly the same.
I've completed 5 epic projects so far. Two at the cheetah level. To hit 160 points required about a week of preparation before each project - stockpiling scarce items and building 2 and 3 point buildings, even bulldozing some 1 point buildings. It took about 60-90 minutes of near constant play at the start of each project, 4-5 hours total. And it cost 100-110k simoleans to buy additional items. It was expensive, but doable.
Good luck on your projects.
Thanks for sharing the strategy.
But it is not easy for mayors who collecting an expansion items. Not much space left in storage to stockpile items.
In specialization can check which building gives epic points.

You need to focus on upgrading your storage (350 is the max), or save up a lot of simoleons to spend at the global trade HQ. I recommend a minimum 100,000 if you're aiming for gold.
Note that different specialisation buildings yield different epic points.
I went ahead and replaced most of mine with 3 point buildings, e.g. all universities for education (except for gambling, there aren't any 3 point building!).
The required parts for each building is random, 1 point buildings do not require easier/cheaper parts, or less parts (but they seem to get harder as you approach 160).
My specialisations have around 6 x 3 point buildings each, and I try and focus on completing only those buildings for 3 points, sometimes I do a 2 point building if it's cheap parts.
I now have 6 x gold epic projects, and 2 x silver. I'm level 53, I started with 280 storage when the update came out, but i've increased to 350 now.
What I do is try and stock 3-5 of each item before I start an epic project building (except for parts that are easily obtained from global trade HQ).

I don't find any parts easy to find in global HQ. I have spent hours looking for several things and t he only advantage is gifts. I also don't think it is possible to get better than turtle when on the levels below 32. Maybe it gets better as you level up but going by comments Global HQ is not an enjoyable part of this game it's just frustrating!

I just completed my first silver epic building after completing 14 bronze. I too felt that anything above bronze was impossible, just as having more than 10 tokens was useless if you didn't get to 80. After reading about how these worked and the different experiences everyone was having, I decided to give it a try. And I am happy to report that I was able to accomplish my goal of 80 in less than 5 hours of paying attention time. I actually reached 30 in about an hour.
The key to accomplishing your mission is to focus on the epic points each building provides. Whereas up to this point I as focusing on items that generated the greatest amount of sims, I now paid attention to how many epic points each item was worth. On this project, I used only 3 points items and no 1 point items. My was transportation project. And I have 3 heliports, so by completing 27 requests, that was 81 items. One task was 5 backpacks, which took 11 hours, so I did it overnight
The other critical thing I found was to expand your storage, which I did to 220 prior to beginning the project. I also stopped any other expansion, such as mountain, in order to maximum my storage ability. I did not make a ton of stuff a head of time and nnever had over 200 items stored. And I had only 5 bronze speedups available, so those were not a ton of help. And I didn't have to spend a bunch of simoleans either, less than 20k.
Maybe the next ones won't be this easy, I don't know. Now I Wish I could convert my bronze buildings to silver

I agree that collecting expansion items doesn't leave much room for stockpiling.
Alternately, you could take a break from collecting those items while attempting an epic project. Or finish your expansions before doing the epic project. Or you could go into the epic project shooting for 8 or 80, and build up to 160 later.
