True, but agreed that there is less room to operate in several of the regions, and thus fewer options for points gathering during an Epic Project.

With the right preparation before starting an epic project in a region you do not need much room.
During an epic project you only get 8 tasks at once. So you only need room for 8 specialization buildings of one type with 3 or more epic points. Having more than 8 don't give you any further advantage.
Once you have made your decision which specialization your epic project should be, you can easily save some of your other specialization buildings to make some room in your region. This is only temporary during the epic project and can be restored afterwards. Then you can move the right specialization buildings from your capital city to the region (also only temporary during the epic project). This is not a big deal and can be done in a few minutes.
