Future City event not accessible

I was made aware that there is a Future City event currently going on in the game. However neither of my 2 cities on 2 different phones show this event. My calander calendar shows the summertime, Iceland, and VU events, and a gray icon that says more events coming soon. Both devices are android phones with the current version of Simcity buildit. I have closed and exited the game and restarted the phone with no change.
