What is the like box icon in the lower Right of the screenshot for. What does it actually do?

It filters the display to buildings that are stored away, thus making it easier to find something you know you have, but can't find beause there's loads of rubbish.
It means you can save this objekt into a store and you can use it any time you want.
Sorry my answer was not correct. It is a filter. . When you click on it you see only the objekts you have saved in the storige of this categorie
