Is it possible to rotate a building before placing it?

I want to build a school that should fit in a rectangle space I saved for it, but the game only tries to put it the wrong way. What am I doing wrong?

Without seeing a screenshot i can only hazard a guess but... Could this be an issue of lining up the driveway with a road?

In my experience, the game re-orients the buildings until the correct edge of the building site is facing a road (if there are multiple options, then the building can be rotated to face a different road).

As a general rule (its not an official rule as far as i know, just a rule i use), when looking at the specialisations screen... the edge of the building that is at the bottom of the screen (or the edge that is closest to you) is the edge that MUST face the street.

even building in a corner/intersection of two streets the software has its own mind on how to place the building. Four windturbines in a row and the one in the corner must rotate one quarter for some odd reson. Please let US rotate!

You can rotate the building by yourself. If there are 2 roads (eg corner) while placing the building, try to slowly nudge your finger to the road you want the building to face to.

    "You can rotate..."

I'll have to give that a try.

Result: It does not work. I tried it with a wind generator.

    Workshop, does not work.

    Apt. block: does not work.

    What useless advice.

It does work. Keep trying. It's finicky. Move slowly, close to the arrows on the square.
