Is there any reason to keep increasing inventory limit

I am at 200 items max. It now wants 17 of each item to increase the inventory to 210. I'm tired of constantly almost hitting the limit. The storage bars, locks, and security cameras take up a large chunk and are the reason why it's always full. Would it be safe to start selling them and not worry about upgrading or am I missing something?

It depends on how much of a stash you like to keep.  Try to think of the endgame rather than what's annoying now.  If you think you'll always be happy with 200 and never need to go higher, then you can certainly start selling.  I'm right about where you are (one step behind, actually) with 190 and nearly enough items to get to 200.  The number of required items to upgrade is annoying, no doubt.  But even right after an upgrade, when I have no upgrade parts in my inventory, I still end up getting caught up in upgrades, shipments, and Vu destruction, and end up running out of space occasionally.  For that reason, I'll continue to upgrade several more steps.

Even when you add more space you'll use it up. The limit is 250 and I can still run out of space especially holding on to 20+ of the map expansion items.

It's good that you can just hold a half dozen or more of every item just in case you need it later on.

The happiest you'll ever be playing this game is the day you get to 250 storage spaces and you never have to collect another storage bar ever again!!!

Expanding is a royal pain but if you are at 200, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Iwould suggest you keep expanding up to the 250 max then with any sim cash  you aquire use it to expand capacity in your shops. This way you can use the shops as storage for items also

You don't get SimCash for max storage expansion. At least, I didn't.

Max territory expansion gets you 35 in SimCash (Growing City achievement), but I don't see an achievement for storage.

Max storage is its own reward.

Besides being able to manage inventory effectively, I also enjoy selling expansion items my Sims continue to give me. They get snatched up before I have time to exit the Trade Depot. Like tossing raw meat to a pack of jackals.
