Kindle Fire HD - The screen stays one size since the last update. Wont get smaller at all. Any help would be great

I have an older Kindle HDX. I haven't upgraded (yet) because I don't like the change where the default ia to put your trade depot on the global trade depot.
What's the point of having friends of anybody can buy stuff from you (when you intended to only sell to friends?).
On my iPad, I've forgottwn to uncheck and lost all the stuff I nade for my friends in aeconds.
HATE that change!
